6/01/26 Morning Psalm and Prayer

Today in the church year we celebrate the Commemoration of the Visit of Mary to Elizabeth (transferred)

Appointed Psalm: Psalm 113

1 Praise the Lord! Praise, O servants of the Lord; praise the name of the Lord.
2 Blessed be the name of the Lord
from this time on and forevermore.
3 From the rising of the sun to its setting the name of the Lord is to be praised.
4 The Lord is high above all nations,
and his glory above the heavens.
5 Who is like the Lord our God, who is seated on high,
6 who looks far down on the heavens and the earth?
7 He raises the poor from the dust,
and lifts the needy from the ash heap,
8 to make them sit with princes, with the princes of his people.
9 He gives the barren woman a home,
making her the joyous mother of children. Praise the Lord!

Prayer of the Day: Mighty God, by whose grace Elizabeth rejoiced with Mary and greeted her as the mother of the Lord: look with favor on your lowly servants that, with Mary, we may magnify your holy name and rejoice to acclaim her Son as our Savior, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.

Gospel Acclamation
Alleluia. My soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior. Alleluia. (Luke 1:47)

Appointed Reading: Psalm 8 (NRSV)

Today’s reading: Psalm 8:1-3

1 O Lord, our Sovereign, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory above the heavens.

God of glory, despite the majesty of your creation you sought us out, and through Christ you crowned us with dignity and honor, giving us dominion over your works. Enable us so to care for the earth that all creation may radiate the splendor of Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen

We had the pleasure of hosting the Illini 4000 team and they traveled through Lehighton providing them with a meal and a place to sleep. May God watch over them as they continue their journey to raise funds for cancer research. Thank you to Al Sellers, Mary Ann Hazel and to all who volunteered to make their stay so welcoming. 🙂🙏🚴‍♀️🚴✝️
