A discussion we had in teen class.

What we perceive as failure can be demoralizing when you attempt to share the Gospel.

Adjust your expectations when evangelizing.

It is rare that one comes to faith during their first encounter with the gospel.

Often times it takes a lot of gardening before the harvest comes. We need to plant seeds, water and pull some weeds.

You didn’t fail when that person didn’t respond the way you wished they would have.

Jesus said In John 4:36-38
36 Already the one who reaps is receiving wages and gathering fruit for eternal life, so that sower and reaper may rejoice together. 37 For here the saying holds true, ‘One sows and another reaps.’ 38 I sent you to reap that for which you did not labor. Others have labored, and you have entered into their labor.

Another may be coming behind you to reap where you have been gardening

So don’t forget it’s not about who gets to do the reaping. They are equally important aspects the process. When the time comes both the sower and the reaper will rejoice together.

We are exploring the book "Tactics" by Greg Koukl with our teenagers in Sunday School, focusing on teaching them to be gracious and effective communicators of the gospel.

2 Corinthians 5:20 "Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God."
