Disney World is about all things Disney. We don’t go there expecting anything else. There is no room in Disney World for things not Disney. What about Me World? Some of us are passionate in our pursuit of them. Others worry endlessly about keeping them. We might even take pleasure in showing them off. We sometimes get angry when they are taken from us. We all have a relationship with our possessions. Have you ever owned a possession, only to discover that possession owned you? What do my possessions have to do with Jesus’ mission? “What does that have to do with anything?” Most of us have said or thought something like that when someone brings something up that seems unconnected to the topic at hand. Why, right in the middle of telling us about Jesus’ mission, does Mark bring up what Jesus has to say about marriage? What does my marriage have to do with Jesus’ mission? As Jesus began his journey from Galilee to Jerusalem to fulfill his mission, those who walked with him had a hard road ahead. At times they made it harder than it needed to be. The road we walk on mission with Jesus today is no less difficult. How do we avoid making walking with Jesus harder than it needs to be?
