Honor That Remembers...Memorial Day Weekend is so much more then the "unofficially start of summer", it is a sacred reminder that honor must never become routine. This Memorial Day weekend, we pause to remember those who gave their lives in service to our nation. Their sacrifice reminds us that honor is not just something we say, it is something we live.
Honor means we don’t treat sacrifice casually. We remember. We give thanks. We teach the next generation that freedom has never been free, and that the blessings we enjoy were often purchased through courage, service, and selflessness.
As we gather with family, rest, travel, worship, and enjoy this weekend, may our hearts remain grounded in gratitude. And may that same spirit of honor shape how we serve God, love people, give faithfully, and live with excellence.
“Give honor to whom honor is owed.”
Romans 13:7
This weekend, we remember.
This weekend, we give thanks.
This weekend, we choose honor.

What we give God first reveals what we trust most.
This week’s blog, “Honoring God With Our First and Best,” is a reminder that firstfruits is more than an offering. It is worship, gratitude, trust, and honor in action.
It also encourages us not to give up on doing things with excellence and honor, even when we are tired, stretched, or tempted to fall into routine.
Honor says, “God is worthy of my first.”
Excellence says, “God is worthy of my best.”

What you treat casually will eventually lose weight in your life.
The Word of God teaches us that honor means recognizing the worth, holiness, and value of God in every area of life.
"Give unto the Lord the glory due unto his name…” — Psalm 29:2
IMPACT STATEMENT: Excellence is the root, Honor is the Fruit...

Honor is not confined to Sunday mornings. It shows up in:
-How we speak
-How we serve
-How we forgive
-How we work
-How we steward what God has given us
How we approach worship
How quickly we obey God
How we represent Christ outside the church walls
“Honor is not merely what we say about God. It is how we respond to Him, represent Him, and prioritize Him.

Honor is not just something spoken… it is something demonstrated.
Jesus said:
“If ye love me, keep my commandments.” — John 14:15
Biblical honor is revealed in our response to God’s voice. Obedience says: “Your Word carries more weight than my preference.”
Ask yourself:
• What causes believers to lose reverence?
• How can familiarity erode honor?
• Why does delayed obedience become spiritually dangerous?
• What does it practically look like to honor God daily?
Honor affects:
Worship
Character
Integrity
Stewardship
Relationships
Everyday choices
The goal is not perfection. The goal is priority.

Honor is more than respect... In Scripture, honor means assigning proper weight and value to God. The Hebrew word kabod means “weight” or “glory,” while the Greek word timē means “value” and “worth.” What we honor, we prioritize.
Honor is revealed through our; Worship and reverence, obedience to God’s Word, and the way we live every day
One of the greatest dangers to spiritual growth is familiarity. When we become too casual with holy things, we slowly lose wonder, reverence, and sensitivity to God’s presence.
Ask yourself:
• Have I become spiritually casual in areas where I once had passion?
• Does my daily life reflect the value I say God has in my heart?
• Am I honoring God only with words, or also with obedience?

Sometimes the greatest freedom in your life is found in what you’re willing to release.
Jesus makes it clear—you can’t serve both God and money (see Matthew 6:24).
Not because money is evil…but because it competes for your trust.
Here’s the truth:
What you hold too tightly can quietly begin to hold you.
Generosity flips that.
Every time you give, you’re declaring:
“I trust God more than what I have.”
You’re breaking fear.
You’re loosening control.
You’re reminding your heart where your source really is.
Challenge for today:
What’s one thing you might be holding too tightly?
What would it look like to trust God with it?
Because freedom isn’t found in having more… it’s found in trusting deeper.

What if generosity isn’t about losing something…but about positioning your heart?
Jesus said in Matthew 6:21:
“Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”
Notice what He didn’t say.
He didn’t say your treasure follows your heart.
He said your heart follows your treasure.
That means generosity is more than an action…
it’s direction.
Every time you give toward what matters to God, something shifts:
• Your focus changes
• Your priorities realign
• Your heart moves closer to Him
You don’t drift toward God accidentally.
You move toward Him intentionally.
