Had a great conversation today with Annielaurie Siefert, Harriet Shaffer, and Sharon Leggott who were active participants during the early years of campus ministry at University Lutheran Church (now Immanuel Lutheran Church). Here are a few fun historical facts:

- In the late 60s and early 70s, the ULC was a busy place during the academic year. KU students utilized the building on a daily basis for study, fellowship, worship, and Bible study.
- At one time, the lower level lounge area had s**g carpeting.
- The ULC was open every day until midnight. It was the job of the building caretaker (who lived in the small apartment behind the sanctuary) to open and close the building each day.
- KU student musicians provided music during Sunday worship
- KU provided a list of the denominational preference of each student, allowing campus ministries like the ULC to more easily connect with students.
- Campus outreach has always been a difficult, but rewarding challenge.

Today we blessed backpacks, gave our second graders their Bibles, commissioned Sunday School teachers, welcomed new members and, most importantly, received the Good News of Jesus in Word and Sacrament. To God be the glory!
