This June, GBCS acknowledges the contributions and sacrifices of the LGBTQIA+ community in the pursuit of peace and justice nationally and globally. Pride Month was established in the United States to commemorate the 1969 Stonewall Uprising in New York City. The United Methodist Church’s Social Principles affirm that human sexuality is a gift grounded in love, care, and respect.

We encourage members and congregations of the church to take time to learn from and listen to members of the q***r community, to practice inclusivity, and to stand in solidarity against attacks on the LGBTQIA+ community—especially those targeting youth. We call for the protection of the rights and personhood of q***r and trans people within both the church and public policy.

Ways to engage: Join the LGBTQIA+ monthly working group (fourth Wednesday of every month at 5 p.m. ET), connect with your conference chapter of the Reconciling Ministries Network (RMN) for resources, and participate in advocacy efforts in your local community and state.

Contact [email protected] to join Church & Society's LGBTQIA+ monthly working group.

A few photos from our Running the Race Together Race Day! We had so many people running, walking, cheering, guiding, helping, serving, feeding and loving today. It really was a great day of Calvary living into our calling. Calvary continues growing as a place of deeper inclusivity, accessibility, flexibility, and belonging; a church where more people can fully participate in the life of Christ and community. More to come!

Youth Group "Giving Tree"
Please stop by and take a look at the "Giving Tree" in the Gathering Space. There are many cards available with items that the youth will need for their upcoming mission trip to West Virginia. If you are able, please consider taking a card from the tree to donate. All items are due back to church by June 28th. Thank you for supporting our youth and the mission trip!

Today, we honor the lives of those who gave everything in service to our nation on Memorial Day. We remember their sacrifice with gratitude.

God calls Calvary to be a place where the spiritually curious gather to live and learn the way of Christ, and where people are formed to make a difference in the world.

This campaign enables us to live this call for our community by renewing our sanctuary which creates a more welcoming, flexible, and accessible space for people of all ages and abilities. And through strengthening our financial freedom allowing us to sustain and expand our ministries, so that we can invest more deeply in our community, now and into the future.
