IMPORTANT COVID-19 UPDATE
Dear Friends:
This is an important message concerning COVID mitigation measures at the Latham Community Baptist Church. Please read this message in its entirety. Thank you.
As we know, the COVID infection rates are continuing to rise daily. Public health officials have warned that January 2021 will be a difficult month for our nation with some of the highest COVID infection and death rates to date. In view of the anticipated increasing health risks, the LCBC Leadership Team has concluded that a temporary pause to our in-person worship services would be in the best interests of the health of our congregation. This was a difficult decision, but one deemed necessary to ensure the overall safety of our congregation.
Accordingly, we will be taking the following actions:
1. We will have in-person worship services on Sunday, December 20 at 10:00 am and on Christmas Eve, Thursday, December 24 at 5:00 pm.
2. We will temporarily pause our in-person worship services starting Sunday, December 27 and continuing through January 17.
3. We expect to resume in-person worship services on Sunday, January 24. We will continue to monitor the COVID infection rates and as we get closer to that date, we will be able to confirm or change the date for restarting services.
4. Since March 2020, we have offered an online version of our weekly worship services. We will continue to do so. You can access the online service through our website at: http://www.lathambaptist.org/home
5. Space for the Christmas Eve service will be limited. We want to encourage our congregation to attend. However, unlike prior years, we are asking you not to invite guests or visiting family members to attend this service. We believe this action is needed to ensure we can adhere to social distancing guidelines.
6. Starting Sunday December 13, we began offering a live presentation of the worship service through our page. We will provide the live service format for our Christmas Eve service. You can access the online service on Christmas Eve, December 24 at 5:00 pm at: https://www.facebook.com/LathamCommunityBaptistChurch
The Leadership Team came to these decisions after much discussion and deliberation. We are hopeful that after the worst of the infection rates abate and the distribution of the vaccine increases, we can reopen without further disruption.
On a personal note, I want to thank you for remaining connected and supportive of the ministry of our church during this most unusual and difficult period. I look forward to sharing a blessed Christmas Eve service with you and a safe and healthy new year.
Peace,
Pastor George
