We exist to introduce inmates to Jesus and connect them to the local church. $10 a month or any donation helps us bring Jesus to more prisons in the United States! Since 2009, God Behind Bars has partnered with churches around the country to transform the lives of prison inmates and their families. Most prisoners—as many as 92% of all incarcerated individuals—will be released back to society at some point, and 75% of them will return to prison within three years. We address this problem with a unique four-step approach that focuses on the physical, spiritual, and relational needs of inmates and their families.

1. We partner with local churches and other faith based-organizations to live stream dynamic, high-quality worship experiences into prisons. Wardens at the facilities offering these services say most of the inmates attend each week and the very culture of these places is changing for the better. We also offer “Church Inside,” providing a way for family members of prisoners to watch the same worship service at the same time—to attend church together.

2. Studies have shown that 90% of inmates have struggled with addiction, so we offer the successful “Celebrate Recovery” program to help prisoners confront and fight these issues.

3. We help inmates find jobs, housing, and education opportunities; reconnect with family and friends; and develop a plan to move forward in healthy ways with the support of a faith community.

4. We continue our relationship with “ex-inmates” to provide ongoing help. Volunteers from the local church meet them as they leave prison and stay connected in the weeks to come, helping with practical needs like housing, groceries, medical treatment, counseling, life skills training, and more. The Castaways Resale Store offers employment in the (Las Vegas?) area and our “Fresh Start Homes” offer healthy and safe environments where recovering addicts can continue healing. By inviting God into prison and showing His love in tangible ways, God Behind Bars is restoring lives, building faith, fighting addictions, reconnecting families, and giving thousands of inmates hope for the future.

What does a MUSIC ROOM look like inside a prison? 🎸

Inside Jefferson City Correctional Center in Missouri, we got a rare look inside a prison music room, and an incarcerated man gave us the tour.

This is a side of prison most people never get to see.

Inside this room, incarcerated men have access to instruments and a space where music can be practiced and shared. What may look like a room filled with guitars and music equipment can become a place for creativity, community and hope behind prison walls.

Music and worship have an incredible ability to bring people together. Inside prisons across the country, we have watched incarcerated men and women use music to express themselves, encourage one another and create moments of hope in an environment where hope can sometimes feel far away.

At God Behind Bars, our mission is to introduce inmates to Jesus and connect them to the local church. We believe no life is too far gone, no prison is too dark and every person has a story worth hearing.

Come inside Jefferson City Correctional Center and see a prison music room from a perspective most people will never experience.

❤️ For the first time inside of this Federal Prison, incarcerated fathers traded their prison uniforms for tuxedos. 14 fathers were reunited with their children for an unforgettable father family dance inside of prison. For one incredible evening, a prison gym became a ballroom as dads danced with their kids, shared dinner, played games, and simply got to be fathers again. One dad hadn’t seen his daughter since she was just 3 months old. Another said his children had never seen him in anything but a prison uniform. These are the moments that remind us restoration is possible. God is restoring fathers, healing families, and changing generations through the hope of Jesus. ❤️ go to our YouTube to watch full video! “I TRUST IN GOD” sung inside a federal women’s prison. 🙌🏽

God Behind Bars Music had the opportunity to lead worship inside FMC Carswell in Texas, where hundreds of incarcerated women gathered for an unforgettable night of worship.

Together, we sang “I Trust in God,” declaring the same truth inside prison walls that believers are singing in churches around the world:

We can TRUST GOD through every season. ❤️

There is something incredibly powerful about hearing voices fill a prison with worship.

These women may be incarcerated, but prison walls cannot stop them from worshiping Jesus.

During our time at FMC Carswell, we watched women worship, pray, surrender their lives to Jesus and publicly declare their faith through baptism. It was a reminder that God is moving in places many people will never see.

God Behind Bars Music exists to create and share worship that comes from what God is doing behind prison walls. Our prayer is that these songs and moments don’t stay inside these facilities, but encourage people everywhere to worship Jesus and believe that no life is too far gone.

Whether you’re watching from a church, your home, your car or from inside another prison, we hope you’ll worship with us.

Sing “I Trust in God” with God Behind Bars Music and hundreds of women inside FMC Carswell. 🙌🏽

🙏🏼 25 INMATES CROSSED THE STAGE AS GRADUATES!! Some for the very first time in their lives. Family members, DOC staff, TUMI leaders, volunteers, and the GBB team gathered to celebrate what only God could do! The GBB building was transformed into a place of pure joy. Incoming TUMI students served as waiters, honoring those who went before them. One graduate shared, “I used to be a professional quitter. Now I’m an A student and a TUMI graduate.” When asked who had never completed anything before, four men raised their hands and then held up certificates. Families wept. One mother was invited onstage to worship with her son. One facilitator fighting cancer spent her birthday with her son at graduation. One frail mother made the trip alone because she didn’t know how many more chances she would have.
This is what happens when God writes the story.
From quitters to graduates.
From brokenness to honor.
From lost to found.
TO GOD BE THE GLORY!!!

🙏🏼 Pray about GIVING to God Behind Bars and helping us reach more inmates with the gospel - $5, $10, $100 helps make this ministry continue - godbehindbars .com

🙏🏽 FROM THE MANSON FAMILY TO GOD’S FAMILY!! “The trial dragged on for months. When the jury finally returned, the last holdout voted “guilty.” The judge’s words rang in my ears: “Life in prison.” My mind flooded with scenes of my crimes.

I grew up in a home marked by my father’s drunken rage and my mother’s helplessness. Rejected and angry, I escaped to California, chasing happiness in possessions, s*x, and dr*gs. L*D opened a door to a dark spiritual presence—an “angel of light” that drew me deeper into rebellion.

In 1968, I met Charles Manson. The “Family” offered love, respect, and belonging—but it ended in blood. I became a fugitive, but I couldn’t outrun God. In December 1970, I surrendered and turned myself into the police.

Four years into my sentence at Folsom Prison, a thought pierced me: “You will never get high again.” Soon after, God showed me the death that covered the prison yard—and my own soul. Desperate, I picked up The Late Great Planet Earth. The Bible prophecies and Jesus’ offer of salvation confronted me. One night, in a sarcastic, defiant prayer, I told God, “If You can do anything with me—go ahead.” I woke up with peace I’d never known.

I was born again. God began transforming me—breaking addictions, replacing shame with forgiveness. I studied Scripture, led worship, and taught others about Jesus.

Once I lived by “what seems right” and found only destruction. Now I live by Christ’s truth—and have hope for eternity.

Friend, do you have God’s peace? Admit your sin. Believe Jesus died and rose for you. Receive Him as Lord. His love is greater than your past. His power can change everything.

“There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death.” – Proverbs 16:25.” - Bruce

Bruce passed away last month but had purpose for Jesus in prison! God used him in such a powerful way and we are so grateful to have done ministry with him.

🙌🏽 This inmate waited over 4 YEARS to get BAPTIZED and it FINALLY HAPPENED! WATCH UNTIL THE END! He was so overcome with emotion when he came out of the water. Getting baptized in a prison doesn’t happen quickly, it can take months to years to get approved. So what you are watching is a true MIRACLE! We will never stop fighting for these incarcerated men!

🙏🏼$10 a month or any donation helps us bring the gospel of Jesus to inmates across the U.S. Your support helps us say YES to more revival events, changing lives behind bars. Join the mission today at godbehindbars .com!

🔥 The inmates started crying out, worshipping, and singing “I’m Going to make it through…” and suddenly the entire atmosphere inside this women’s federal prison changed.
Women fell to their knees in tears. Hands lifted in surrender.
There is no prison that can keep out the presence of God. He is our Firm Foundation. ❤️‍🔥
