GATHER 🤍

More than a breakfast. More than a room full of women.

Women gathered around the table.
Gathered in worship.
Gathered around God’s Word.
Gathered in community.

What a beautiful morning of connection, encouragement, and growing together in Christ.

There is something special that happens when the women of Life GATHER. 🤍

WHEN THE PRESSURE HITS, WHERE DO YOU RUN FIRST?

We treat prayer like a last resort. God wants it to be our first line of defense. We pray when there’s nothing else we can do, and God wants us to pray before we do anything at all.

Pressure reveals where our dependence really lies. The circumstances that squeeze us also expose what we actually lean on.

Some of us run to worry. Some of us run to a friend, a mom, or a dad. Some of us run to our phones, to ChatGPT or Google. Some of us start fixing, scheming, and strategizing.

None of those things are necessarily immoral or wrong, but there’s a better question hiding underneath all of them: do we run to God?

Prayer says, God, this is bigger than me, but it isn’t bigger than You.

Martyn Lloyd-Jones once gave this advice: always respond to every impulse to pray. Our instinct usually runs the other way. Make the call, solve the problem, build the plan, then pray.

If prayer becomes our reflex, the pressure itself turns into the trigger that reminds us to pray. Prayer moves to the front of the line instead of the back.

Opposition drove the believers in Acts 4:24 toward God, and it drove them there together. They prayed as one group, so the question lands on us too: when the pressure increases, where do we run first?

Prayer is dependence.

Parenting has a way of reminding us that our own strength isn’t enough.

What a gift to be able to pray, “God I need You. Give me a strength outside of myself.”

Parents, we don’t have to do this alone. Depend on Him.

THE ONE THING POLITICS AND NATIONALITY COULD NEVER GIVE US

Age, political party, and nationality can sort us into groups. None of them can hold us together.

Paul laid out the standard in Philippians 1:27: “Let your manner of life be worthy of the gospel of Christ.”

That word “worthy” trips people up. The gospel begins with the reality that none of us is worthy. We’re sinners. We’ve rebelled against God, we’ve broken His law, and we could never make ourselves right with Him.

Jesus came, and He stood firm where we failed. He perfectly obeyed the Father. He was rejected, He was mocked, He was beaten, and He suffered.

At the cross, Jesus suffered as our substitute. He bore our sin. He received the judgment we deserved. He died in our place. Three days later, He rose from the grave.

Everyone who turns from their sin and believes in Jesus Christ is forgiven, is declared righteous, is reconciled to God, is adopted into His family, and is made a citizen of heaven.

What holds us together is Jesus Christ and His gospel. Our faith in Him unites us where age, political party, and nationality never could.

United by the gospel, we live for the gospel. We stand together firm in it. We strive together to advance it. If the way leads through suffering, we suffer together. Let’s honor the Lord together.
