Fraternus is open to all boys/men 5th grade and over in the Diocese of Lake Charles. First night is Wednesday 09/09/26 6pm
Fraternus is a brotherhood forming Catholic men.
You do not have to guess who you are called to be. A Fraternus man lives as a son of the Father, stands with his brothers, and grows in the ways of the fathers.
As sons, we fight daily in spiritual combat, learning to govern ourselves in the Truth and the loving discipline of our Father-accepting our true identity in Him rather than inventing one for ourselves or receiving one from the world.
We are dedicated to our brothers, taking care of one another, speaking plainly, and refusing to let a man drift or disappear. No man becomes a man alone. So we stand together. We sharpen one another.
Our brotherhood comes from the Father, and it is not merely social. It calls forth dedication and commitment. We not only build one another up, but we also build and protect our local community, facing challenges - from economic hardship to death to outright attacks from the world- and growing a true local, Catholic culture. This brotherhood makes you a man for others, growing the kind of roots that make a community stable and strong.
As men, we are either fathers now or preparing to become fathers. All men are called to spiritual fatherhood. Our discipline is not for our self-image or gain, but so that we may be free to offer ourselves as a living sacrifice.
As a brotherhood of fathers, we know it is our place to initiate the next generation of men. We invite the patronage and guidance of older men, like godfathers or uncles, over our sons and household.
Fraternus men understand virtue not as self improvement, but as the maturity of the man, rooted in his identity, and always oriented toward God, our true and final end.
Together we form the next generation, accepting the duty given to us for our own families and providing for the fatherless. We accept this duty with seriousness and gladness.
We regularly leave the comfort of the domestic to face ourselves honestly- on pilgrimage and adventure- where we no longer hide from God and each other, but face the ordeals that form us as men. These are the places and times where our sons become men.
Some of us take on the responsibility of hosting other men in our homes and backyards or leading Fraternus Chapters at the local parish, extending the security and resources of our households to strengthen other men through the virtue of hospitality.
We live not under our own banners, but under Christ our King and within His Church, who teaches, corrects, and sustains us as a loving mother.
We do not outsource what belongs to men. Programs and personalities will not save us. Life comes from our Father, and as His sons, we are committed to living it to the fullest both here and in eternity.
