The Parish of St. Maria Goretti

was established in 1967. For the first 10 years of its existence all parish life was conducted at St. Joseph's Oblate Seminary. In 1975 our rectory was purchased adjacent to ten acres of land previously obtained by our parish. In 1977 our new church and chapel were dedicated. In 1979 our Parish Office was constructed, followed in 1987 by the dedication of our fully equipped Family Center. In commemoration of the Centennial Anniversary of Saint Maria Goretti, our Grotto was dedicated as a Parish Shrine on July 6, 2002.

We are pleased to announce that Bishop Joseph C. Bambera has accepted Stephen Chronowski from Saints Peter and Paul Parish in Plains into the Program for Priestly Formation for the Diocese of Scranton.

Keep Stephen in your prayers as he begins his formation, and please join us in congratulating our newest seminarian!

On Saturday, June 27, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. in the Cathedral of Saint Peter, Scranton, Bishop Joseph C. Bambera will ordain Rev. Mr. Jan Carlo Pérez to the Order of the Priesthood for service in the Diocese of Scranton.

Ordination to the Priesthood is a very important event in the life of the Diocese, and all are invited to attend!

The Ordination Mass will be broadcast live on CTV (Catholic Television of the Diocese of Scranton).

It will also be livestreamed on the Diocese of Scranton website and made available through links on all Diocesan social media accounts, including Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, and Instagram for anyone unable to attend in person.

There will also be an opportunity to pray an Ordination Novena for Deacon Pérez on the Vocation Office’s social media platforms beginning June 18th.

Please keep Deacon Pérez and his family in your prayers as he prepares for Ordination.
