We love seeing our Blue Gators carry a heart for service beyond graduation. 💙

Congratulations to Tre Bishop ’26, named 232-HELP’s 2026 Trailblazer Award Honoree. Tre began making an impact in our community while he was a student at Ascension, and we’re proud to see that commitment to serving others continue into his next chapter.

A wonderful example of what it means to lead through service.

We are proud to introduce our 2026 Trailblazer Award Honoree, Tre Bishop!

Now a college freshman, Tre has already built an impressive record of service and philanthropy. As a student at Ascension Episcopal School, he launched an initiative to collect and recycle plastic-coated political and advertising signs that would otherwise end up in landfills.

Tre was also named a 2024 Louisiana Young Hero for his outstanding community service, including organizing donation drives for people experiencing homelessness, supporting disaster-relief efforts, and raising funds for local medical clinics such as St. Bernadette’s Community Clinic in Lafayette.

Celebrate Tre’s remarkable achievements—and the inspiring example he sets for other young people—by joining us at our gala on October 22!

Some of the most important work happening for our students happens behind the scenes.

Our program begins in 8th grade, and that support extends well beyond the college counseling office. Yesterday, Stephanie Fournet, Director of College Counseling, led a Lunch & Learn for teachers focused on writing meaningful recommendation letters—helping faculty highlight the classroom experiences, character, and qualities that may not show up elsewhere in a student’s application.

It’s one more way our teachers continue learning, collaborating, and supporting students long before senior year.💙

At Ascension, students are encouraged not only to bring forward ideas, but to lead them from vision to reality. We spoke with Olivia Devey ’27, this year’s Spiritual Life Prefect, about Mornings with Mary, a rosary prayer group she started on our Upper School campus, and how Ascension has given her space to stay connected to her Catholic faith while inviting others into the community.

❓What made you start Mornings with Mary?
I wanted students to have another opportunity to find spiritual connection outside of chapel and Eucharist. Mornings with Mary gave me and others a place to gather and worship together with no obligation or requirement. I soon realized that not just Catholics valued this tradition. It’s an amazing way to start my day and puts me in such a good headspace.

❓How were you supported when you approached administration?
I brought the idea to Natalya Grant '27, who worked with our Director of Student Life to make it happen. They loved it! One thing I love about Ascension is how open our administration is to students’ new and sometimes crazy ideas. I’ve also been blessed to see firsthand how praying the rosary each week has impacted students and faculty.

❓What is your religious background?
I’ve been Catholic my whole life and attended Catholic school before transferring to Ascension in ninth grade. At my previous school, Mass, adoration, and confession were built into my routine. Mornings with Mary helped me return to the faith I had grown up with. At Ascension, I’m able to worship in a way that is meaningful to me and bring an idea like this to life.

❓How have students responded?
Students love it. We even have non-Catholic students who regularly join us to pray the rosary. I really love the community that has grown around Mornings with Mary.

❓Will it continue after you graduate?
Many of our regular participants are underclassmen, so I hope Mornings with Mary continues and becomes part of students’ weekly routines for years to come.

How do you make the enormous scale of our solar system easier to understand? You build it. 🪐

🤔 Sophomore chemistry students in Mrs. Gonzales class used scientific notation and dimensional analysis to convert planetary data into scaled measurements, then built physical models to visualize the vast distances within our solar system. It’s one thing to calculate extremely large numbers and another to see what those numbers actually mean.

🙌 The activity gave students a hands-on way to put their measurement skills to work on a truly astronomical scale.

We began the 2026–2027 school year the way we hope to move through it: together.

🎓From kindergarten students processing alongside our seniors to Blue Gators from all three campuses joining in prayer and song, Opening Convocation reminded us what a gift it is to be one school family from preschool through graduation.

🪢 A simple rope brought this year’s message to life. Rather than pulling against one another, we are called to hold onto one another—to reach for someone who is struggling, make room for someone who is new, and stay close when someone is hurting.

🙏 Our senior Prefects challenged students of every age to live our school verse with courage and let love guide their choices: “Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong. Do everything in love.”

💙 Different ages, campuses and experiences—but one Blue Gator family, holding fast to our faith and to one another as we begin Ascension's 67th school year.

❓🫧 Third-grade science began with a question: Would blowing directly into bubble solution create a larger bubble than blowing into an existing one?

🤔 💭 Students formed hypotheses, tested their ideas, and recorded observations while also practicing with tools such as tweezers, measuring tapes, and magnifying glasses. It was a hands-on lesson in how scientists ask questions, gather evidence, and learn from the results.

💡Through curiosity and careful observation, our third graders discovered that science is as much about the process as it is about the answer.

🐊 Meet the Blue Gators is more than an introduction to our fall teams. It is the moment our COMMUNITY comes together to show our student-athletes we are behind them.

There's nothing like Blue Gator Nation!

🎉 With the gym filled with Blue Gator SPIRIT, we celebrated our Middle and Upper School fall athletes and recognized the seniors who are beginning their final year representing Ascension.

💙 Seeing our younger athletes alongside our seniors reminded us that each season is part of something much bigger—a TRADITION carried forward from one group of Blue Gators to the next.

We are proud of the HARD WORK our students put into practices this summer to prepare for the season. More importantly, they continue to support one another well and represent our school with integrity and honor. That's the Blue Gator way.
