New Series Alert! Starting our series on Creation Care, Pastor Amy talks about the call on humans to understand what it means to be created in the image of a God who invites, calls, feeds and blesses, to be created in the image of a Creator. Hint: it's not domination and control or using up all of earths limited resources!

When you go to the gym, a sweet playlist can be just the motivation that you need to pump you up. So can working out with a buddy or a team. Paul’s letter to the Philippians invites them to work out their salvation together and gives them song to remind them of who they are and who Christ is in their midst. It’s also a message to us that as the church we too are called to encourage, support and care for each other and to serve Jesus above any earthly power - even when it’s hard. God will always be with us.

On Wednesday, a few of our members helped with a big move-in. Sheila Stanton Place in Kirkland is getting set up to welcome new residents who are currently unhoused and disabled. We were delighted to create welcoming spaces for the new tenants.

The church now has some of the same struggles as the church 2000 years ago. If we take Paul's advice we'll root our discernment about how to be in the world in the love of Jesus. And through our loving action justice and righteousness will flourish.

How do talk to someone who thinks or believes something totally different than you? Here on the internet maybe it's with a lot of all caps and yelling? From ancient Athens, the Apostle Paul offers a model we (Christians) could all use: find genuine common ground, be curious and make connections, remain rooted in the resurrection. And don't be pushy!

Text: Acts 17:16-34   Several years ago there was a special delegate session of MCUSA in Kansas city. This was after we’d had to skip an assembly because of Covid so there hadn’t been delegate opportunities. And this was the session at which we discerned the future for the Resolution on Repenta...

From the time of Paul's encounter with an enslaved girl to his own imprisonment, to prisons in our own back yard, imprisonment and captivity have been the tools of the wealthy and powerful. Used to commodify human beings and control populations. And just as disciples of the Way were called then, we are called now to embody and proclaim liberation and justice.

Text: Acts 16:16-36   Last Sunday morning I was listening to NPR both before and during my drive to church. And as I’m sure you all know, a news reader will periodically read the headlines between the Sunday puzzle and the interviews with authors and musicians and what have you. Most of the headl...

Our culture will tell you that it's weak or wishy-washy to change your mind. Especially when you're already on the road to success and power. But when Saul saw the light, his whole world turned around. And he wasn't the only one who needed a change. Ananias was afraid of Saul (for good reason!) and he needed to hear the invitation to heal a man who could have been the agent of his death. Whatever road you're on, it's okay to change your mind. Especially when it's Jesus calling!

It's Okay to Change Your Mind - Acts 9:1-19
