Children’s Church resumes on September 13. Children, Pre-K through elementary school, begin the morning in worship at 10:00 am. Following the children’s sermon, they are welcome to go to Children’s Church for the remainder of the service.

Our room is near the sanctuary with visibility into the room from the hall. Our teachers are screened in compliance with our child care policy.

Come check out this wonderful opportunity to share faith and have fun!

Omnipresent God, we pause midweek to contemplate hurricane season. We live with the threat of weather we cannot control. We beg your protection from wind, floods, and disasters.

Please guide us to live wisely on this planet. Help us to have safety plans that consider the most vulnerable. Let us value and support first responders, emergency crews, and utility workers. Help us see our churches as places of shelter and respite for the community when it has needs. Give wisdom to those who track storms and disperse warnings.

Support us, loving God. Give us wisdom in our preparations. Guide our safety plans. Please help the strongest to plan for the weakest.

In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen

On August 30, Lay Pastor Susan May preached from Romans 12: 9-21. We clearly need God’s help to participate in Right Worship as outlined by the Apostle Paul. Welcoming our enemies with hospitality and denying ourselves vengeance against those who have wronged us does not come naturally to most people. We have different preferences for how, where, when, and with whom we worship. We get caught up in worship styles, worship times, and music preferences. Our preferences are clearly not what creates Right Worship. Right worship is following where Christ leads, even if our preferences point us in a different direction. We must allow Christ to lead and not just expect him to bless OUR plans.

Omnipresent God, this midweek we pause to pray for those living in abusive relationships. So often people suffer from abuse, fear, and control in their relationship with an intimate partner. People suffer violence and are trapped by their abuser. Loving God, please help those being victimized to see their value to you. Remind them that they are made in your image and worthy of rescue. Please help those suffering to find individuals and organizations with the compassion, expertise, and resources to bring them out of relationships and into safety.

Help us individually to understand the signs of abuse. Help us to listen and to offer assistance. Give us wisdom to react in scary and complicated situations. Please watch over all first responders who see evidence of abuse. Give them resources to provide assistance and safety.

Loving God, please bring your light into these dark situations. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen

On August 23, Rev. Favazza used Isaiah 51:1-6 and Matthew 16:13-20 to remind St. Andrews Church of its firm foundation. Nothing of this world is indestructible. Faith, Hope, and Love, as exemplified by Christ’s sacrifice on the cross, are indestructible. The greatest of these is Christ’s love. A church is not a country club or a civic organization. A church is the home for God’s indestructible love to flourish and nourish God’s people. God is open to be your foundation. St. Andrews is open to be your faith community!
