Anyone who knows me well knows I love music, especially Christian music. I have fairly diverse tastes in music loving classical, traditional hymns, and contemporary Christian music. I know some who really don't like contemporary Christian music largely because of the blaring drums and guitars. Here is a musician that I recently discovered who takes a very different approach to contemporary Christian music. This song is "Holy Forever" originally written and performed by Chris Tomlin on an album from 2022. Megan Tibbits sings this version and accompanies herself on the harp. It's absolutely beautiful!

This week is a very special week in the life of the church! By now you should all know that Pastor Penny is retiring in June and a new pastor will be arriving and assume responsibilities at the church beginning July 1st. Tomorrow is "Announcement Sunday." This is the Sunday that the church will be told who their new pastor is going to be. So Sally McGrath, the Church Layleader and Chairperson of the Staff Parish Relations Committee, will be making that announcement tomorrow.

Our scripture this Sunday is John 11:17-27 and the sermon title is "Do You Believe in the Resurrection?"

Dear Friends and Families of Kilmarnock United Methodist Church,

Please join us live and in person or via our YouTube Livestream for Worship at Kilmarnock United Methodist Church - April 14, 2024. We have two worship services on Sunday at 8:30AM and 11:00AM. Communion is celebrated at the 8:30AM service every week.

This week we will have a special "Stewardship Moment" presented by Sandy Jordan. Our Ladies Trio will provide special music for the offertory singing Without His Cross and the choir anthem will be I Then Shall Live.

The scripture this week is Revelation 1:1-3; 17-18 and the sermon title is Easter Triumph.

There will be a Fellowship hour following the 11:00AM service. The theme is "Getting (Re)Acquainted" and is meant to be a time for all of us to get to know each other better, to get to know the new members who have joined KUMC over the past year or so, and to faces with the names of the church leadership. Good food will be served - All are invited! We hope you'll join us!!

P.S. Most of you are undoubtedly aware that Pastor Penny will be retiring in June. That means that both Pastor Penny and Birt will be leaving us as they move to their new home in Charles City. The church is still looking for someone to replace Birt running the camera and sound on Sunday, editing videos, and helping out on a other technical issues around the church. Dear Friends and Families of Kilmarnock United Methodist Church,

Easter is upon us!

We will start the Easter celebration with an Easter Sonrise Service at Camp Kekoka at 6:30AM. The camp is located at 1083 Boys Camp Road, Kilmarnock, VA. We will have music and preaching as we watch the sun come up over Indian Creek and celebrate the Resurrection of Our Lord!

We will NOT have an 8:30 Easter Service at the church. There will be Sunday School at 9:30AM and our Easter worship service at 11:00AM. As always, the livestream should begin about 10:50AM.

We pray that you will join us for this joyous occasion!

Dear Friends and Families of Kilmarnock United Methodist Church,

Here is the link to the Candles of Grace - A Service of Tenebrae choral presentation from Good Friday at Kilmarnock United Methodist Church. We had a combined choir of the Kilmarnock United Methodist Church Choir with the Clarksbury United Methodist Church Choir. Wayne Hare was the director and accompanist and the program was narrated by Steve Rice.

Since I am the sound man, camera man, but also a member of the choir, I had to simply set the camera and sound system and hope for the best. So I was not able to move the camera, zoom in, zoom out, or adjust the sound once we started.

I pray that you will be blessed with this musical service observing the crucifixion of our Lord.
