Prodigal Road Ministries was founded in 2023 after one of our founders, Anthoney Farmer, experienced a massive deliverance from a life riddled with drugs, same-sex attraction, a same-sex marriage, witchcraft, and the occult. In

2022, Anthoney had a deep and profound encounter with the Lord after attending a prayer meeting, hosted by Marcy Gate Ministries and Cross Kingdom Church at “The Empty Cross” prayer garden in Kerrville where he was baptized and rededicated his life to Christ. He experienced a mass deliverance from his drug addiction, his same-sex attraction, depression, and co-dependency. His father, Britt, is a Church of Christ minister and his mother, Lisa, is a Christian Pre-school teacher. Anthoney battled his entire life trying to find his identity. For 16 years Anthoney ran from God and chose a life of the world. In 2008, he was diagnosed with HIV, a diagnosis that changed his life forever. Anthoney was a victim of sexual abuse from ages 6-8 years old by a man in his community, a fact that he had completely repressed until 2017. In 2019, Anthoney’s father’s church experienced an active shooter event in which his father’s best friend was killed. In 2021, Anthoney had lost everything including his job, his nursing license, his home, and his money. He was homeless in Austin when a friend offered him a place to live in Kerrville. On March 26, 2022, Anthoney moved into a sober living home in Kerrville and began attending Cross Kingdom Church. He took Christ on in baptism in May of 2022 and was shortly after invited to begin attending a small group for his church at the home of Wayne & Susan Johnson. Wayne & Susan began discipling Anthoney into a deeper relationship with Jesus and the Holy Spirit. After picking up Anthoney one day from his sober living home, Wayne Johnson asked Anthoney what it would take to open a Christian discipleship/transitional living home for men coming out of addiction. After much study, discussion and wrestling with the desire to see more men delivered in the way that Anthoney was delivered, Wayne, Susan and Anthoney founded Prodigal Road Ministries. Wayne & Susan have spent their whole lives dedicated to ministry and helped Pastor a church in Harlingen for many years where they raised their three daughters in the Lord. Wayne & Susan are the spiritual patriarchs of Prodigal Road Ministries. Our mission and vision would not have been possible without their spiritual, emotional, practical, and monetary leadership. Through our discipleship / transitional living program (Prodigal Road House); and our school, church, and business-outreach ministry (Prodigal Journey) we strive to bring men into a right relationship with Jesus Christ so they can walk in their God-given identity.
