Happy Labor Day weekend! 🇺🇸 As summer begins to wind down, take a moment to rest, recharge, and thank God for the blessings of family, friendship, and meaningful work.

May this long weekend bring peace, joy, and time to reconnect with what matters most.

The Church dedicates this month to the Seven Sorrows of Mary, inviting us to reflect on Our Blessed Mother's steadfast faith and trust in God through suffering.

Consider praying the Seven Sorrows Rosary (Chaplet) this month as a way to draw closer to Jesus through Mary's compassionate heart. May she teach us to remain faithful and find hope in every trial.

Today we celebrate St. Pius X, who was Pope from 1903 until he died in 1914. Despite his role as Pope, he frequently shared evening meals with priests and often left the Vatican unnoticed to bring comfort to the sick in local hospitals.

He encouraged the frequent reception of Holy Communion and lowered the age at which children could receive their First Communion.

St. Pius X, pray for us!

Today we remember St. Maximilian Kolbe, who offered his life in place of another prisoner at Auschwitz during World War II. His extraordinary sacrifice echoes Christ's own words:

"No one has greater love than this, to lay down one's life for one's friends." John 15:13

Let his example challenge us to love sacrificially, stand firm in faith, and place others before ourselves.

The. Horaniff School was located at the NW corner of 98th and State. The name was taken from land donated by a man named Horan who had furnished the 2 acres of land for St. Patrick's Catholic Church, located on the SW corner of 94th and State.
The name Horaniff came about when the railroad was completed, and they inquired from Horan what they should call the depot at that location. Writing back to them he noted, "They could call it Horan if they wanted to" Someone in the railroad office apparently mistakenly combined Horan and if, making the name Horaniff.
