This month we will be starting back Sacred Storytime and our weekly community groups. We will also be starting an 8 week bible study on the Gospel of Mark. As always our weekly gatherings are open not just CtF members but all. Be sure to sign up to receive our weekly emails for location information for community groups.

Next Friday, Aug 28th we will be gathering at the Hanlon’s to celebrate the Feast of St Bartholomew (actual feast day on the 24th). We will be holding a brisket cookoff and relay race for the kids! St Bartholomew is the patron saint of butchers so tradition is to eat brisket on this day. And in Kent, England - children of the village participate in a St Bartholomew’s Bun Race where they are rewarded with a currant bun for their efforts (or malasadas in our case). Those who are able to come are asked to bring a side or dessert to share.

Sacred Storytime is back the first Sunday of September! Our church ohana is blessed with an abundance of kiddos - and we welcomed 4 new additions this year. As our families grow so do our need for more volunteers in our children’s ministry.

Sacred Storytime is our time of teaching for children 3-12 during the sermon led by Auntie Cardinal and Auntie Kari. Volunteers are needed for Storytime support. You would serve about one Sunday every month or two and just have to complete our Ministry Safe Training. If you are interested in serving our church in this capacity please reach out to Auntie Cardinal.

The CtF ladies had a lovely gathering this morning to celebrate the Feast of St Mary. It was a joy to have all ages (from 6 weeks to almost 91 years old!) come together to reflect on Mary and her encouragement to us as women of faith.

O God, you have taken to yourself the blessed Virgin Mary, mother of your incarnate Son: Grant that we, who have been redeemed by his blood, may share with her the glory of your eternal kingdom; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever.

This Saturday, the women of CtF will be gathering at the Fernando’s home for a tea party to celebrate the Feast of St Mary the Virgin. Girls of all ages are welcomed to attend! We will be making rosemary tea (rosemary is a common association with St Mary) to enjoy together. Please bring your favorite mug and the story behind it to share.

Join us Friday (Aug 7th) for a celebration of the Feast of Transfiguration (Aug 6th). We will be gathering at the Hanlon’s to share a meal and a brief liturgy. The main for the meal will be provided and those attending are asked to bring a side. Traditionally fruit and French Silk Pie are eaten on this feast day!
