🎓✨ Senior Shoutout ✨🎓

Please join us in congratulating Larissa on her graduation from Seattle University!

Larissa graduated magna cm laude with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and along the way distinguished herself as a Division I student-athlete on the Seattle University Women’s Tennis team, where she balanced the intense commitments of collegiate athletics with academic excellence.

Her hard work and dedication earned her recognition as an ITA Scholar-Athlete, along with Big West Academic Honors and West Coast Conference (WCC) Academic Honors.

This fall, Larissa will begin an exciting new chapter as a Combat Systems Mechanical Engineer at Pearl Harbor Naval Base, using her talents to serve our community and country.

We are so proud of Larissa’s hard work, perseverance, and dedication both on and off the court.

Please join us in congratulating Jeremiah on his graduation!

Jeremiah has achieved some impressive accomplishments, including receiving the National Society of High School Scholars Award and earning an academic scholarship to the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa, where he will continue his educational journey this fall.

Here at St. John Vianney Parish, Jeremiah has been an active member of our Youth Ministry and has generously served as a youth leader on retreats, helping to guide and inspire younger teens in their faith.

We are grateful for the gifts, leadership, and servant heart he has shared with our parish community. Jeremiah, we are proud of all you have accomplished and excited to see where God leads you next!

This weekend at all Masses, we will be offering a special Blessing of Graduates. We are so proud of our graduates and grateful for the gifts they share with our parish community!

Starting next week, we will begin our Senior Shoutout series highlighting and celebrating our graduates and their accomplishments. Each student’s journey is unique, and we look forward to sharing their stories with our St. John Vianney family.

Today happens to be National Strawberry Rhubarb Pie Day. A pie isn't made from one giant ingredient. It's made from a lot of small ones.

Faith works the same way.

Most people won't remember a grand speech.

But they'll remember:

• the invitation
• the encouragement
• the prayer
• the kindness
• the seat you saved for them at Mass

The Kingdom of God is often built through small things done with great love.

As Saint Teresa of Calcutta famously said:

"Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love."

What's one small thing you can do for someone today?

The first people Jesus calls blessed are those who know they need Him.

That's what "poor in spirit" means.

Not weakness.

Dependence.

And maybe that's good news for anyone starting this week with more questions than answers.

The world says:

✔ Be successful
✔ Be admired
✔ Be comfortable

Jesus says:

✔ Be merciful
✔ Be humble
✔ Be a peacemaker

One of those lists gets likes.

The other changes the world.

Which list are you chasing this week?

The waves never stop returning to shore.

Again and again.

Today, on Corpus Christi, we're reminded that God's love comes to us the same way.

Not once.
Not occasionally.
But continually.

Every Mass is an invitation to return.

Every Eucharist is Christ giving Himself again for the life of the world.

No matter how far you've wandered.
No matter how busy life has become.

Jesus is still waiting.

"Taste and see that the Lord is good." (Psalm 34:8)

"Be what you see; receive what you are."

When we receive the Eucharist, Jesus isn't simply present to us.

He is transforming us.

Every Mass is an invitation to become more patient.
More merciful.
More courageous.
More like Christ.

Corpus Christi reminds us that the Eucharist isn't just something we attend.

It's Someone we encounter.

And that encounter changes everything.

Today we celebrate Corpus Christi - the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ.

In a world where so much is virtual, temporary, and filtered, the Eucharist is profoundly real.

Catholics don't gather each Sunday for a symbol or a memory.

We come to encounter Jesus Himself.

The same Christ who walked with the disciples, healed the sick, and conquered death continues to give Himself to us in the Eucharist.

What if the thing you're searching for isn't another distraction, but a deeper encounter with Him?

"I am the living bread that came down from heaven." (John 6:51)
