Something that stood for more than 500 years is suddenly gone.

The Hōlei Sea Arch is a reminder that even the things that seem permanent in this life… aren’t.

Jobs change. Relationships change. Places disappear. Seasons end. Things we thought we could never lose can suddenly be gone.

But Jesus offers something this world can’t take away.

“I give them eternal life… and no one will sn**ch them out of my hand.” — John 10:28

Maybe the question isn’t, “How do I hold onto everything?”

Maybe it’s: What do I have that can never be taken away?

What happens when you don’t even have time to recover before the next storm hits?
For many here in Hawaiʻi, it has felt like one thing after another—storms, flooding, damage, cleanup, uncertainty… and then another warning comes.
There’s actually a term that helps describe what this can do to us: complex trauma. When difficult events keep stacking up, we can feel exhausted, anxious, overwhelmed, or even disoriented.
And this is one reason I’m so thankful for the Psalms.
The Psalms don’t pretend everything is okay. They give us words for fear, grief, confusion, exhaustion—and ultimately remind us where we can turn when life feels unstable.
If you’re tired from everything Hawaiʻi has been through lately, you’re not alone.
God is still our refuge in the middle of the storm. 🙏🌧️🌊
