What does it mean to be a member of a church?

In a culture that treats church like a weekly event to attend, the Bible presents something far deeper.

Church membership is not about getting your name on a roll. It is about belonging to a people. It is about being known and knowing others. It is about mutual accountability, shared burdens, meaningful fellowship, and serving alongside fellow believers in the mission of Christ.

The New Testament describes Christians as members of one body, devoted to one another, caring for one another, encouraging one another, admonishing one another, and submitting to godly leadership. Biblical Christianity was never designed to be lived in isolation.

Tonight we begin our 8-week Covenant Membership Class at Twelve 5 Church.

Over the next several weeks we will discuss:

• Our ministry philosophy
• Our theological convictions
• Our church structure and bylaws
• Our membership covenant and what it means to belong to a local church

Whether you are considering membership, have questions about our church, or simply want to understand what we believe and why we do what we do, you are welcome to attend.

You do not have to be interested in joining Twelve 5 Church to come.

There is no pressure and no obligation.

Simply come, listen, ask questions, and learn what we are all about.

Tonight at 6:30 PM

Join us this Wednesday at 6:30 PM as we continue our study through the 1689 London Baptist Confession of Faith.

This week, Pastor Jeremiah Nortier (“The Apologetic Dog”) will be teaching through the final two paragraphs of Chapter 22: Of Religious Worship and the Sabbath Day.

What does Scripture teach about the Christian Sabbath? Is the Lord’s Day still relevant for believers today? How should God’s people think about worship, rest, work, and delighting in the Lord?

Whether you’re new to the 1689 Confession or have been studying it for years, this class is designed to help you think carefully and biblically about these important doctrines.

Sermon title: Grace for a Weary Servant
Sermon Text: Acts 18:1-17
Preaching: Nathan Hargrave

In this passage we see the Apostle Paul arrive in Corinth weary, discouraged, and fearful after seasons of intense opposition and persecution. Yet Christ meets His servant with exactly the grace he needs, reminding him:

“Do not be afraid… for I am with you.”

Many believers know what it is like to wrestle with doubt, discouragement, fear, and spiritual weariness. Acts 18 reminds us that our confidence is not found in our own strength, but in Christ’s presence, Christ’s purpose, and Christ’s protection.

This morning we will consider:

• Paul’s Weariness
• Christ’s Presence
• Christ’s Purpose
• Christ’s Protection

Whether you are walking through trials, battling discouragement, or simply seeking to grow in faithfulness, we pray this passage encourages you to fix your eyes not on Paul, but on the Lord Jesus Christ who sustains His people and accomplishes His mission.

Order of Service:
• Baptism
• Congregational Worship
• Scripture Reading – Romans 11:2-6
• Prayer
• Sermon – Acts 18:1-17
• Koinonia Feast
• The Lord’s Supper
• Sermon Discussion

In Christ we exist to equip the saints through the ordinary means of grace, which are Scripture, prayer, fellowship, and sacrament, so that every believer is sent to live out ministry in all of life.

How should God be worshiped?

That is not a question left to human creativity, cultural trends, emotional preference, or religious invention.

God Himself has told us.

Join us tonight as we continue walking through the 1689 Second London Baptist Confession, Chapter 22: Of Religious Worship.

We will discuss why true worship must be shaped by God’s Word rather than our imagination, and why the regulative principle matters far more than many realize.

“But the acceptable way to worship the true God is instituted by Him, and it is delimited by His own revealed will…”

If you have missed previous chapters, you can catch up anytime on our YouTube channel.
Search for Twelve 5 Church and go to our 1689 playlist.

Tonight • 6:30 PM
We also have nursery and children’s classes during that hour.

Join us as Pastor Keith Henick continues our study through the 1689 London Baptist Confession of Faith.

Tonight’s lesson will examine:
• What true Christian liberty actually is
• Freedom from the guilt, power, and condemnation of sin
• Liberty of conscience under the authority of God’s Word alone
• The dangers of legalism and man made religion
• The abuse and perversion of Christian freedom
• How believers are called to use liberty in love and holiness rather than as an excuse for sin

Key passages include:
Romans 14
Galatians 5
Colossians 2
Acts 4
1 Corinthians 6 and 8
Hebrews 12

“The truth will set you free.”
But biblical freedom is not autonomy. It is liberation unto joyful obedience to Christ.

📍 Gather with us in person if possible. The livestream is a supplement, not a replacement, for the gathered church.

What does it mean to be “noble” according to Acts 17? In this sermon through Acts 17:10–15, we examine the well-known account of the Bereans and consider a difficult but necessary truth: respecting Scripture is not the same thing as knowing Christ. Some heard the Word eagerly and remained lost. Others were awakened by the Holy Spirit through that same Word and believed. And others violently opposed the spread of the gospel.
As Paul and Silas preach in Berea, we see the power of God’s Word on display. The Scriptures expose hearts, awaken sinners, strengthen believers, and provoke hostility from the world. The gospel cannot be contained.
This sermon also considers the reality of cultural Christianity in the Bible Belt, the danger of merely intellectual faith, the necessity of the new birth, and the cost of boldly proclaiming the truth of Christ in a hostile world.

Acts 17:10–15

Join us as we gather each Lord’s Day to worship Christ through the ordinary means of grace: Scripture, prayer, fellowship, and sacrament.

This livestream is intended to serve as a supplement to the Christian life, not a replacement for faithful participation in a healthy local church. If you are not actively connected to a biblical church, we would encourage you to find one in your area. If needed, feel free to reach out and we would be glad to help.

Join us tomorrow, May 10, for a slightly different Lord’s Day gathering than usual. As a church, we want to be reminded that the beauty and power of the gathering is not found in production, but in the ordinary means of grace and the people of God gathered together in Christ.

We also want to honor and show appreciation to the mothers who faithfully sacrifice and serve their families so well.

Gathering begins at 10 AM. Stay afterward for lunch and sermon discussion together.
