The world gave you a domesticated Easter. Pastel colors. Chocolate bunnies. A warm fuzzy feeling about new beginnings and springtime hope.
That is not what happened.
What happened is that the holy, righteous, eternal Son of God — the second Person of the Trinity — willingly bore the full, unmitigated wrath of His Father against every sin of every person who would ever believe, across all of human history. Every act of treason against the Creator. Every murder. Every lie. Every lust. Every act of rebellion from Adam to the last breath drawn on this earth.
That wrath did not glance off Him. It did not pass over lightly. It was poured out in full. The Father crushed the Son. Isaiah told you seven hundred years before it happened: "It was the will of the LORD to crush him" (Isaiah 53:10).
And the physical suffering — the nails, the scourging, the thorns — that was not the point. Roman crucifixion was brutal, but thousands of men died on Roman crosses. Only one Man bore the infinite wrath of God on His. The darkness that fell over the land for three hours was not weather. It was judgment. The cry "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?" was not despair — it was the moment the Father turned His face from the Son who carried your sin.
Then He said, "It is finished." Not "I am finished." IT is finished. The debt is paid. The wrath is spent. The work is done.
And three days later He walked out of that tomb — not as a resuscitated co**se, but as the risen, reigning, victorious King. Death could not hold Him. The grave could not keep Him. And forty days later He ascended to the right hand of the Father where He sits right now, ruling over every nation, every government, and every power in heaven and on earth.
That is Easter. Not bunnies. Not brunch. The King is alive and His kingdom has no end.
