OUR MISSION STATEMENT
By the power of the Holy Spirit we, the people of Fairplay Gospel Fellowship, believe God is calling us to fulfill the Great Commission of Matthew 28:18-20 by being and providing the following:
Worship: Regular worship services, including preaching, praying, music, and giving, to help meet the spiritual needs of the congregation. Fellowship: Time for connecting and coming t
ogether to build unity within the body of Christ. Outreach: Local community outreach as well as worldwide missions for the purpose of making disciples of Jesus Christ. Service: Assisting and helping people identify and utilize God given gifts and talents. OUR JOURNEY
In January of 1988 a group of believers felt the need to establish an independent fellowship that would emphasize and teach the Word of God, lift up Jesus Christ as the only Savior of all mankind, offer Christian fellowship to all who walked through the doors, base its government on New Testament principles, and have no denominational ties. Leaning entirely on the direction and gracious provisions of God to embark on this exciting adventure, we found ourselves conducting our first service as a fellowship of believers on January 24, 1988 at the vacant Grace Bible Church, in Avis. On September 4, 1988 we conducted our first service in our current building at 1625 Walnut St., Jersey Shore. On May 15, 1996 we broke ground for a new addition that would enlarge our Sunday School classes and social hall and provide access to both floors to enable persons with disabilities to participate in all fellowship functions. On June 13, 2001 a group of believers met in a home in Jersey Shore to study the Word of God and pray for those in need. In August of 2001 that growing number of believers gathered for Sunday morning worship at Camp Kiwanis. That worship was the beginning of weekly Sunday worship where believers met in a home in Jersey Shore to glorify God and minister grace and love to a hurting world. In October of 2001 Grace Ministries, led by the Spirit and equipped with God's Word and a burning desire to reach more people for Jesus Christ, met together with the believers of Fairplay Gospel Fellowship. Plans were made for a day of worship, study and fellowship. On November 11, 2001 the two congregations gathered together as the body of Jesus Christ. Combined weekly worship continued. On April 10, 2002, both congregations voted unanimously to make official what God had already done, "that which was two became one." We thank God for His plan and power. We thank God for giving the call to be His children and disciples. We thank God for the opportunities to minister His saving grace and love. Most of all we seek God's Spirit and direction for all that He is about to do through Fairplay Gospel Fellowship!
