MESSAGE: When was the last time you had one of those days? You know the kind, where it starts bad and just gets worse. That’s the kind of day that Moses and Aaron have when they are granted an audience with Pharaoh. They confidently enter Pharaoh’s throne room, lay out their demands, “The God of Israel says, ‘Let my people go!’” How could they fail? God had directed them here; they were being obedient, God was on their side, they must have thought. But Pharaoh responds with a definitive, “No!” What’s worse, later that day Pharaoh commands that the Israelites make bricks without straw, and he treats the people harshly. Now the people that God sent Moses to deliver out of slavery are deeper in it than before. And the people rebuked Moses and Aaron. That was a Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day,” or was it?
