Be a little conservative.
..and now that we have your attention, let's let Dr. Reichel explain:

“Conservative values can be truly radical when those in power do not care to sustain what makes shared life possible: When people ‘move fast and break things,’ decency and kindness insist on the humanity of those otherwise crushed under the wheels. Even decorum and politeness can be radical in a world that scoffs at empathy. Honor and courage are necessary to confront injustice and violence. Liberty is not an excuse for only caring about yourself, but a commitment to liberate others.”

📚Join us this Wednesday at 6pm in Craig Lounge for the second installment of The Forum at Lent, where we will continue to examine and discuss 'For Such a Time as This: An Emergency Devotional.'

A theological tool for finding spiritual stamina during systemic crisis, the book uses lessons left by the past Church to help the modern Church remain steadfast in the face of tumult, and helps us to continue forward as followers of Jesus.

Homemade soup 🥣 and vibrant discussion 🗣 for all, and all are welcome. We can't wait to see you there.

Happy Wednesday, Good Shepherd! ☀️ We've got a wonderfully busy day ahead!

This evening at 6:00 pm in Craig Lounge, the Forum at Good Shepherd will present a screening of "1946: The Mistranslation that Shifted Culture." The film is a groundbreaking documentary that examines the genesis of the historically fraught relationship between the modern mainstream church and LGBTQ+ people. It "chronicles the discovery of never-before-seen archives at Yale University which unveil astonishing new revelations, and casts significant doubt on any biblical basis for LGBTQIA+ prejudice." For those who strive to follow our baptismal vow to "respect the dignity of every human being," this will be a powerful and eye-opening experience.

This morning, we will hold Men's Bible Study in Craig Lounge at 8:00 am, and after that a 10:30 am Advent Bible Study in the Parish Office on Forbes Street.

Before the Forum, we will hold Evening Prayer at 5:30 pm in the Chapel; as always, the Chancel Choir rehearses at 7:00 pm in the Choir Room.

There are so many opportunities for engagement and fellowship today, and we cannot wait to see you! As always, everyone is welcome.

On this Transgender Day of Remembrance we are remembering the saints whose lives and work were dedicated to the full inclusion and flourishing of the trans community.

"The Rev. Iain Michael was an active leader in the TransEpiscopal community for many years. He was part of advocacy efforts leading up to and at the 2012 General Convention at which “gender identity and expression” were added to the Episcopal Church’s nondiscrimination canons for access to the ordination process and all levels of leadership in the Church."

It's Forum week! Join us this Wednesday, Nov. 5 at 6 pm in Craig Lounge for the third and final part in our series on justice and mercy in the Old Testament.

We are once again honored to welcome Old Testament expert Dr. Sonya Cronin of Florida State University. In this final installment, she will lead us through the concepts of justice and mercy via the theme of kings and exile.

We cannot thank Dr. Cronin enough for her time and expertise over the past three months. Her passion, enthusiasm, and knowledge have been invaluable and appreciated, and have helped us absorb what can be very intricate timelines and concepts. Thank you!

As always, we will have refreshments and a great conversation—can’t wait to see you there!

🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️ Happy Pride! 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

You are welcome in the Good Shepherd family, exactly as you are.

In the Episcopal Church, we cherish the inclusion of LGBTQ+ folks at all levels, and discernment for the ministries of bishop, priest, deacon, and lay leadership are open to ALL—without discrimination, without exception. This inclusion is hard-written into the very canons our church thrives on, and cannot be bypassed or ignored.

You are beloved.

You are wanted.

At Good Shepherd, we welcome every body.
