Ebenezer United Methodist Church began after the Civil War. The church was originally named Zion Methodist Episcopal Church. The church grew and was home to prominent members in the community such as James Weldon Johnson and his family. As the membership grew, Ebenezer was moved from Clay and Ashley Streets to its current location, 9114 Norfolk Boulevard. Ebenezer is moving forward in its efforts of saving souls under the leadership of Rev.
