School has started. Sit down with your child for 5 minutes and explain to them that being very tall, short, chubby, skinny, black or white is not a joke. That there is nothing wrong with wearing the same shoes every day. Explain to him or her that a used backpack carries the same dreams as a new one... Please teach them not to exclude anyone for "being different" or not having the same possibilities as one. Explain to them that teasing hurts... and that they go to school to LEARN, NOT to compete. People will not remember what you wore, but they will remember how you made them feel.

Congratulations to our 2022 Silver Vikings! This award is over 40 years old and was inaugurated by the Honorable Jimmie A. Johnson, our longest serving Principal and former Chair of the Duval County School Board during his tenure as Principal (1978-1995). Only 10 of these awards are giving out annually. This is the second highest award that can be bestowed on a senior!
