On this Mother's Day, we pause to give thanks — not just for one kind of love, but for all the forms it takes.

We celebrate the mothers who carried us, who stayed up late and prayed over us, whose hands still feel like home. And we celebrate those who never gave birth but gave life — the aunties who showed up when it mattered most, the grandmothers who held generations together, the godmothers and mentors who spoke our names into purpose.

We see the foster mothers, the adoptive mothers, the chosen family who became family not by blood but by covenant. We honor those who mother entire congregations — the Sunday school teachers, the women of the church who wrapped their arms around every child as if they were their own. We hold tenderly those who longed to be mothers and carry that love quietly. And we remember those whose mothers are no longer with us — grief and gratitude often walk hand in hand.

Motherhood, at its truest, is not defined by biology alone. It is defined by presence. By sacrifice. By the kind of love that doesn't quit.

To every person who has ever loved someone into becoming who they are — we see you. We honor you. We are grateful for you.

May God, who is described throughout Scripture as one who comforts us "as a mother comforts her child" (Isaiah 66:13), surround you on this Mother's Day with that same tenderness — and may you know how deeply, how fiercely you are loved.

We are grateful for this beautiful litany written by Rev. Anita M. Cobb and shared at the last Strategic Planning Committee meeting—a reminder that in every season of uncertainty, God calls us to respond with love, justice, and collective courage.

Her words speak to who we are as a Region: people who show up for one another, who stand with our neighbors, and who shine light into the places that need it most. Take a moment to read and share this litany with your congregation or ministry team. It is a gift to all of us.

One: In a time when life is calling us into something new, different, bold, we must respond to the call with love, courage, and care.

All: We will answer the call and serve with joy, passion, and courage!

One: In a time when hate seems to drive out love and confusion overpowers curiosity; we must stand on the side of truth and justice.

All: We will let love be our guide as we stand in solidarity with our neighbor, bearing the burden together.

One: In a time when entities seem silent, we must speak. Speak for those who have been silenced. Speak for those who are afraid. Speak for those who need the courage to speak for themselves.

All: We will be the hands, feet, and voice of Jesus, proclaiming good news to those who live in the margins.

One: In a time when the pressures of life weigh us down and the darkness appears to be winning; we must join our lights together to help light a way forward.

All: Together we will let our lights shine facing the newness with resolution and conviction. We will work together to move forward with hope and action. We will speak truth to power in love. We are one region, one church.

✨ Regional Assembly 2026 — Save the Dates! ✨

This fall, we’ll gather as the Indiana Region to lean into our theme from Ephesians 4:16: Building Together in Love. Every congregation, every leader, every ministry brings an important piece of the vision God is shaping among us — and Regional Assembly is our time to reconnect, strengthen those bonds, and imagine what we can build when each part does its work.

Mark your calendars for October 2–3, 2026.

Registration opens soon, and we can’t wait to come together in a spirit of hope, collaboration, and shared purpose.

An invitation from our Regional Minister. How do we care for women in our churches, our communities, and our region? Our Regional Minister invites all women across the Indiana Region to gather for a day of connection, worship, learning, and joy at the Indiana Disciples Women Annual Event on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at Westview Christian Church in Indianapolis.

This year, we’ll explore our theme: Blooming Together in Love — celebrating how God nurtures our growth and how we flourish when we show up for one another.

We hope you’ll join us — and bring someone with you.
Register today and be part of this meaningful day together.
