What an unforgettable day! Witherspoon Presbyterian Church of Indianapolis Student Achievement Sunday 2026 was a beautiful reminder that education matters, community matters, and celebrating one another matters!

This year, we honored more than 30 academic milestones—from nursery school promotion to doctoral degrees. Watching our students and lifelong learners celebrated by their church family was nothing short of inspiring.

For more than 50 years, the Witherspoon Scholarship Ministry has faithfully invested in the dreams of students, encouraged educational excellence, awarded scholarships, recognized academic achievement, and reminded generations of young people that their church believes in them. This ministry has never been simply about financial assistance—it has always been about cultivating purpose, celebrating potential, and building tomorrow’s leaders.

A heartfelt thank you to Elder Nikki Graham for a powerful and spirit-filled keynote message that challenged and inspired us all. We are also deeply grateful to Elder Mike Berry and Deacon Delois Berry for their faithful leadership of the Witherspoon Legacy Trunk Ministry and for their unwavering commitment to mentoring and investing in the next generation. As part of the Legacy Trunk Program, students receive a fully stocked dormitory trunk, a dedicated mentor, and year-round support from members of Witherspoon Presbyterian Church and the broader community.

To every donor who supports the Witherspoon Scholarship Ministry, thank you for believing in our students and helping us celebrate excellence, invest in purpose, and build tomorrow’s leaders. We are especially grateful to The Mind Trust for its generous $5,000 gift for the second consecutive year in support of Student Achievement Sunday, the Legacy Trunk Ministry, and our year-round scholarship efforts.

Witherspoon Presbyterian Church of Indianapolis is elated to join our siblings at New Era Church in celebrating the Pastoral Installation of Rev. Dr. Joshua A. Harris, Sr. and Lady Aminah Harris. As New Era embraces the theme, “The Dawn of a New Era” from Joshua 1:5–9, we rejoice in God’s faithfulness and give thanks for this sacred moment in the life of the church. We pray that God will continue to strengthen Pastor Harris and Lady Harris with wisdom, courage, compassion, and unwavering faith as they lead God’s people into this new season of ministry.

Pastor Harrison-Jones will offer the Invocation during tomorrow’s installation service. This exciting Afro-Futuristic adventure has already earned recognition as Best Actor – Flanner House Arts & IF Theatre (2025) and Spotlight Season Winner of the 2025 Flanner Fringe Lab. Witherspoon Presbyterian Church of Indianapolis is proud to encourage our families, friends, and neighbors to support the Girls IN STEM Academy Open House & STEM Experience this Saturday, June 13, from 4:00–7:00 PM at 5136 N. Michigan Road—our former church home.

While this event highlights and celebrates girls in STEM, the Open House is open to all current and prospective students and their families. We encourage everyone to come out, experience this incredible learning environment, and discover the exciting opportunities available through Girls in STEM Academy.

We also want to celebrate the outstanding leadership of Principal Chrystal Westerhaus-Whorton and her remarkable team. Their commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and creating a nurturing environment where students can thrive is making a meaningful difference in the lives of young people across our city. What an incredible way to kick off our Summer Adventures with the Pastor series!

Today, 41 members of the Witherspoon Presbyterian Church of Indianapolis Family
—ranging in age from 4 to 85 years old—gathered for an afternoon filled with laughter, fellowship, and unforgettable memories. Watching children, youth, parents, grandparents, and friends share the skating rink together was a beautiful reminder that the church is at its best when generations come together in authentic community. From first-time skaters to seasoned pros, everyone encouraged one another, cheered each other on, and simply enjoyed being together.

This is what community looks like. It isn’t just about worshiping together on Sunday morning; it’s about building relationships, creating shared experiences, and reminding one another that every generation has a place in the life of the church. Moments like these strengthen the bonds that make us more than a congregation—they make us family.

And we’re just getting started!

Stay tuned for the rest of our Summer Adventures with the Pastor series, including our Pool Party, Camping Adventure, and even more opportunities to laugh, learn, grow, and enjoy life together.

Witherspoon Out on the Town! What a phenomenal evening with the incomparable Jennifer Lewis! We may be missing a few members in this photo, but the joy, laughter, and fellowship were in full force.

Jennifer Lewis was absolutely AMAZING—authentic, hilarious, inspiring, and unforgettable. It was an evening filled with stories, wisdom, and plenty of laughs.

A special thank you to Elder Lauren Peterson, the Children’s Museum, and the MindTrust for making this wonderful opportunity possible. Experiences like these remind us that church is more than what happens on Sunday morning—it’s also about building community, celebrating culture, and enjoying life together.
