For the month of September we will be collecting donations for UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief). This is a global humanitarian relief organization, that was founded in 1940. It works in more than 70 countries- including the United States.
When a community is impacted by a natural or civil disaster, UMCOR works to support immediate relief and helps communities rebuild their lives and recover over the long term.

Do you enjoying singing? Do you play a band instrument? Have you ever played hand bells or have been curious about playing them? If so, we would love to have you come join and be part of our music team here at First United Methodist Church. Our practices are on Wednesday evenings starting at 6:00. Our praise band plays once a month as we bring a mix of traditional and contemporary music into our services. We offer a lot of opportunities to share your musical talents and gifts with our Independence community. Our children's choir will be regrouping this fall during our after school program. Contact our church to find out our schedule for our kids activities on Wednesday's after school. We have LOTS of excitement happening at FUMC, and we would like to have you be part of it.
