Grace Day is TOMORROW!

Lord, we pray today for those in our community who are mourning young lives taken too soon. We ask that you be with the families of Northwest School District, especially the high school students who have lost friends and must now begin a new year with empty spaces and hurting hearts. Fill those spaces with Your love and grace. Comfort them during the big and little moments that will be filled with grief. Supply their teachers and parents with grace, understanding, and a willingness to listen and be supportive. Give them people who will remind them that You, Lord, are an ever-present help and support during all their troubles and they can turn to You. Lastly Lord, we ask You to be with the families of those lost. Help them to cherish the memories and live lives that exemplify the best of those they hold in their hearts. Amen.

Unforgiveness is hard on more than just our hearts. Hurt and anger, while understandable human emotions, can be heavy burdens. Our bodies feel weary when we interact with people who have hurt us. Our body remembers the hurt, and we tense waiting for the next hurt to land locking our body in fight-or-flight mode, sending more than just feelings in a spiral. Anger and bitterness do your body more harm than they could ever do good.

We often comment about feeling "lighter" when we have forgiven others or relief when they forgive us. We feel the moment the burden has lifted. Jesus calls us to forgive others as the Father forgives us, often and from our hearts. Today we pray for lighter hearts and the willingness to forgive others.
