This September, we continue the journey through our Seeing to Being sequence with Part III: Elemental Dakinis.

In earlier teachings of this series, we explored the core principles and practices of Seeing to Being, a unique framework revealed by Rinpoche and unfolded by Lama Rigzin Drolma through the phases of seeing, seeking, sensing, and being.

In Part III, we continue this movement through the Elemental Dakinis. This practice is another passage to wisdom, and to furthering connection with the dakini already in you. The earth element dakini, for example, is a steadfast support to us, glowing brownish-gold. Learning to see, seek, sense, and be her, valuable in its own right, also accustoms us to the process of becoming a wisdom being, such as we will emphasize in our Great Bliss Queen II retreat in May.

Seeing to Being Part III: Elemental Dakinis
September 18–20, 2026
Online and in person at Dawn Mountain

This Fall, we invite you to deepen your practice at Dawn Mountain through Focusing.

Gendlin's Dyadic Focusing for Dzogchen Practitioners
Saturday, September 26 | 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM CST
Online and In-Person at 4803 San Felipe Street, Houston, TX 77056

Focusing is a practice of listening to the wisdom of the body. It can be practiced alone or with a partner. We offered an introduction to Focusing at Dawn Mountain last Fall. This coming Fall, we will provide a careful introduction to focusing with a partner, and in this way to see for yourselves how beneficial it can be to sit with a caring, attentive dharma friend as a support for diving deeper into the nature of your own experience.

Focusing, which originated in professional psychotherapeutic circles, has since proven to be very valuable in a wide variety of circumstances-- in creative ventures, decision-making, and, especially relevant for us, in overall spiritual development. It is a process which simply and easily helps us relax and know ourselves better. It therefore promises to be very helpful to us as Dzogchen practitioners.

For this reason, we will be teaching how to do focusing and offer it at no cost for those enrolled in Full Dzogchen Cycles. We heartily recommend it for all of you in the context of enhancing your spiritual practice. At least one course on Focusing will also be a requirement for those of you who will participate in the Legacy Training program.

This is open to all Dzogchen practitioners and those interested or oriented toward Dzogchen. There will be a basic introduction to Focusing, and then we will move into dyadic Focusing.

This September, join us for an introduction to our Basic Meditation Practice, open to all.

Intro to Dawn Mountain Basic Meditation Practice
Saturday, September 12 | 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM CST | Online Only

Sunday and Other Key Practices: An Informal Conversation for Everyone Interested in Practice and Learning, with Lama Rigzin, Lama Namgyal, and Lama Sherab.

Morning: 10 AM-12 PM CST. First, and mainly, this offers you an in-depth introduction to the key elements of our ongoing Sunday meditation: setting our intention, our "three pillars," mindfulness of breathing, chanting a sacred syllable, and dedication and aspirations for others. We will also discuss Pema Chodron's book and its place in our teaching. Our aim is to enhance your understanding and experience of the special qualities of each of these practices and how they constitute a complete practice in their own right.

Afternoon: 1-3 PM CST. We want to hear what you have to say!
We’ll offer an open mic for you to ask any questions you have about our Dawn Mountain programs, how they complement each other, and an optimum order in which to take them. As time allows, we will also expand on our "Seeing to Being" cycle, a unique sequence tailored to the needs of modern practitioners, and how it serves as a unifying template for all our practices, and the essentials of “Brilliant Basics” a course on the foundational practices of our tradition. And…how it prepares us for the upcoming Becoming Tara formal practice retreat Oct 11-17!

Dear Friends,

Prayers have been requested for the renowned HE Garchen Rinpoche, now experiencing a viral illness.
We encourage you to participate in these prayers as your able.
Khenpo Gyurme Lodro Gyatso, from whose teachings many of us, , including the Dawn Mountain Lamas, have benefitted a great deal, is very close to Garchen Rinpoche who is in fact responsible for his being here in the West with us. Therefore we have a debt of gratitude to him.

In particular, prayers connected with Amitabha an/or Vajrasattva have been suggested, as noted below.
You can also use your own Vajrasattvva practice, or any Amitabha practice yo may be doing.
And also of course including him in your dedications or other the merit you offer through other practices will surely likewise be beneficial.

This is what his own lineage is suggesting: And thank you for all your practice and dedications:

Lamas Rigzin Drolma and Namgyal Dorje

The Amitayus prayers are provided below. If you are able, please accumulate the short Amitayus mantra, dedicating the merit for Garchen Rinpoche's long life and good health.

Your prayers and practice are truly appreciated during this time.

We will continue to share any updates on our website and by email as they become available. We kindly ask that you refrain from contacting the office for updates, as this will allow our team to focus on supporting Garchen Rinpoche and attending to the needs of the Sangha. Thank you for your understanding and your continued prayers.
