St. Matthew's Episcopal Church

St. Matthew's Episcopal Church St. Matthew's Episcopal Church, Houma, La. welcomes you! Please join us at 10 a.m. Sunday. We are located at 243 Barrow Street, in downtown Houma. Matthew’s.

Whether you are from another Christian tradition and are searching for a new church home, are new to Houma and seeking an Episcopal Church, or maybe just wanting to explore the Christian faith for the first time, we invite you to join us in worship and fellowship. We worship at 10 AM each Sunday. If you have children, we are ready to receive them. We have a church nursery available, as well as Sun

day school classes which run concurrent with the first half of our worship. The children then come and join their parents for the celebration of Holy Communion. If you’d prefer to keep them with you for the entire service, you are more than welcome to! We truly enjoy having the little ones in church. We are all growing and learning, and often in awe, as we see new friendships and new ministries developing as we continue to live into the Lord’s mission for St. We would love for you to consider whether He might be calling you to be a part of all He has in store. You are welcome at St. Matthew’s!

Bishop Duckworth has been in touch with Bishop Jake Owensby of The Episcopal Diocese of Western Louisiana since news broke of the heartbreaking tragedy that occurred yesterday in Shreveport. A city-wide vigil is planned in Shreveport on Wednesday night. The bishop and his wife, Joy, will be in attendance. He has asked for our prayers for the murdered children, the survivors, the members of law enforcement who were called upon to respond, and the wider community.

Additionally, the Episcopal Diocese of Louisiana will send a contribution from the Bishop’s Fund to assist with funeral expenses.

We offer this prayer for those grieving alongside the families impacted, the community of Shreveport, and the Episcopal Diocese of Western Louisiana.

Most merciful God, whose wisdom is beyond our understanding: deal graciously with those who mourn. Surround them with your love, that they may not be overwhelmed by their loss, but have confidence in your goodness and strength to meet the days to come; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Our Bishop in the news with an inspiring message for her flock and those in the community.

In her work, Bishop Duckworth places great emphasis on the "go/no-go" roll call before the Artemis II launch, likening the critical moment to the profound pause that occurs in the church on Good Friday before the first fire of Easter.
