Trinity Episcopal Church - Houghton

Trinity Episcopal Church - Houghton Serving the Copper Country by building authentic relationship with God and neighbor. All are welcome. Montezuma Avenue in Houghton.

Built in 1910 of red brick and Jacobsville red sandstone, Trinity Episcopal Church is located at 205 E. As with many of the buildings in Houghton, the lot the church is located on has a steep slope to it and the builders used the slope to allow for a lower level, yet still allowing entry to the sanctuary at ground level. The continuing vibrancy of the church belies the struggle it went through in

its earliest days. First established in 1860 in what was a wild mining town, the first clergyman, never conducted a Sunday service before departing to more civilized parts. Once it was established, in a building moved across the river from Hancock of all things, it certainly had its ups and downs, but by the early 1900's was thriving, which was when the present building was erected. Currently over 150 years old, the congregation proudly looks forward to the future in church building that has served them well for over 100 years. For a more in depth History of Trinity Episcopal Church Houghton visit:

Hello Trinity family,

Due to the likely high AQI numbers tomorrow, we are planning to move tomorrow’s service indoors. We will still be at the homes of Gordy and Val, so the address on the flier below is correct. But, for everyone’s safety, we will have the service in Val’s home and the lunch to follow in Gordy’s. You are still welcome to bring items to enjoy the outdoors after the service as you feel comfortable.

Val and Gordy’s sole request is that if you are not going to attend the service or lunch, and RSVP’d for a meal, that you please come by to pick up your chicken barbecue so they are not left with an excess of chicken.

Thank you for your flexibility and understanding and please join us tomorrow as you are able!

Please text, call, or email Rev. Sarah with any questions or concerns!

In peace,
Rev. Sarah

Happy Pride! Trinity will be at Pridefest this Saturday! Come see us for a painted rock and some love!

“God of all creation, you have made us in your image, a rainbow of every color, culture, gender expression, language, orientation, and nation; grant that when we look at one another we may see you, expressed in yet another language of love; and grant that we may honor your holy presence in every life. We pray because of Jesus, who shows us the way. Amen.

A prayer for Memorial Day. Please note, church offices will be closed for the holiday.

We're thrilled to be a sponsor for this incredible event in the Keweenaw! We'll be tabling at Keweenaw Pridefest, so come and find us to say hi, and take home a painted rock!

is a small but mighty family of faith, rooted in the traditions of the Episcopal traditions. Our call is to serve the Keweenaw by building authentic relationships with God and our neighbors. We seek to deepen our roots of service and hospitality, so we may grow and become a place of support, refuge and radical welcome for our community. As the presence of the wider church changes, we pray to be continually rooted in our tradition, and yet drawn by the Holy Spirit to the new, creative, and collaborative ways Trinity is called to be a witness to God’s work in the world.

We are committed to thoughtful preaching, beautiful music, and radical welcome; to being the hands and feet and face of the Body of Christ in the Keweenaw and in the world beyond.

All who find themselves at our door are welcome.

Trinity's Maundy Thursday service will be modified for the weather.

We will still hold a prayer service, and if you'd like to join us, you are most welcome. John, Lisa, and Blade will lead the service, which will include prayers of fellowship, but will not include communion.

We're facing a big storm, and we know you might not be able to join us in person. We value your safety and your sense of what is right for you above all.

For those who can join us: we will be gathering together at 5:30pm, with whatever food folks care to bring, to pray and to share fellowship.

For those who stay home: we will add a special prayer for you, and we will keep you in our thoughts.

If you signed up for the overnight vigil:
There will be a small collection of people in the church throughout the night You're welcome to join, but as an alternative, we suggest that you pray in your own home at the time that you signed up for.

Thank you everyone for taking good care of yourselves.

As we move into this holy Christmas season, I want to share with you that Christmas Eve will be my last day of work before I step away for maternity leave. We are joyfully anticipating the arrival of our baby on December 30, and during this season, I will be taking time to rest, to grow in new ways...
