Holy Water has its great power from the prayer of Holy Mother, the Church.
The two tiny elements of salt and water used in the blessing, signify the glorious mission of Holy Water for the purpose of purification and preservation of body and soul.

"Oh, God, grant that this creature of Thine (water) may be endowed with divine grace to drive away devils and to cast out diseases;
that whatever in the house or possessions of the faithful may be sprinkled with this water,
may be freed from everything unclean and delivered from everything hurtful.
Let everything that threatens the peace or safety of the dwellers therein be banished by the sprinkling of this water, so that the health which they seek by calling on
Thy Holy Name may be guarded from all assault."

Following is one of the blessings the priest makes to God, when he blesses water. It is great!

Some of the marvelous effects of the devout use of Holy Water are:
1) Remission of venial sins,
2) Remission of temporal punishment due to sin,
3) Expulsion of demons,
4) Healing of the sick in body and soul,
5) Averting dangers, both spiritual and temporal.

Did you know that when dangers threaten, such as
fire, storms,
sickness, discord,
or other calamities, prayers joined with the devout use of holy water are highly efficacious?

Holy Water, sprinkled with faith and piety, can move the
Sacred Heart to bless your loved ones and protect them from all harm.
When worry and fear take possession of your heart, run to your Holy Water Font and give your dear ones the benefit of the Church's prayers.

St John Macias used to sprinkle Holy Water on the Ground for the souls in purgatory.
Say the following prayer:
“By this holy water and by Thy precious blood, wash away all my sin, O Lord, and relieve the souls in purgatory,” and then make the sign of the cross.”

Only in Purgatory can one understand how ardently a poor soul longs for Holy Water. If we desire to make a host of intercessors for ourselves, let us try to realize some of their yearnings, and never forget them at the Holy Water font.

They may need the sprinkling of only one drop to relieve their pining souls!

The devil hates Holy Water because of its power over him.
He cannot long abide in a place or near a person that is often sprinkled with this blessed water, by himself or someone else.

AS WELL as the phrase "Christus Mansionem Benedicat" which is Latin for “May Christ Bless the House."

Everyone who sees this will know you are a Catholic — it is a testimony of FAITH.

This is also a house BLESSING, asking for God’s protection and guidance for all who live there.
