Attention First - Sixth grade families!

We are so excited to be back in the swing of things on Sunday Mornings and Wednesday Nights!

I just wanted to share a few reminders with you.

All kids must have an adult check them in. Please do not send your child downstairs to check themselves in.

Please be ready to show your pick up tag when you pick them up.

Check in times are as follows:

Sunday Morning check in begins at 10:15am

We finish with our schedule at 11:40am - if you arrive before that, please be patient as our kids are still in stations until then.

Wednesday Nights check in begins at 6:15pm

Please pick up your child by 8:10pm - all children will be given a cat and coffee if they are still there after 8:11pm ( just kidding...)

We love having your children and helping them grow closer to the Lord! If there is anything you ever need, please let us know!!

We hope you are planning on joining us tonight for our "Recharge" activities and classes. Wholly Ground Coffee Shop is open at 5:00 pm for dinner, snacks, and specialty drinks, followed by a voluntary corporate time of prayer in the Worship Center, then our scheduled classes and activities for all ages starting at 6:30 pm. (And its not too late to register for our classes, visit: www.crossgate.org/current for more info.

And let's be honest, life can be tough, and what better way to deal with a challenging week than to be around like-minded believers, studying the Word of God. That's what it means to be "Recharged" - to renew our faith in the promises of God while fellowshipping with those who are on a similar journey.

Foster care is local missions.

Christians are called to care for the fatherless and vulnerable. Today, foster care is one of the ways the Church can live out that calling in a very real and tangible way.

But knowing 𝘩𝘰𝘸 to step into foster care can feel overwhelming. That’s where The CALL comes in.

We're here to equip local churches to support children and families impacted by foster care.

That can look different in every community. It might look like calling families to open their homes, rallying around foster families through Care Teams, creating spaces for prayer and encouragement, or supporting the mission through donations. The CALL walks alongside local churches, helping them engage in foster care ministry in ways that fit their people, resources, and community.

Context is always important. When we read this verse (James 1:22), we cannot separate it from the rest of the chapter. Instead, we need to see it in light of everything that has preceded it in the book.

James has just written that we need to put off evil and receive God’s Word that is implanted in us. Now he comes back with a positive command: we should be doers of God’s Word. If you are in Christ then God has put His Spirit and His Word inside you, now you need to apply it in every aspect of your life.

James is telling us that God’s Word will bring us freedom from sin and victory in temptation. But we have to apply it. He cautions us not to. We cannot simply be hearers of the Word — that will not bring lasting change. We need to do the Word.

Many in the church believe they are Christians because they have attended church their whole lives and can recite a lot of information about the Bible.

But that doesn’t make somebody a Christian.

James reinforces his point with an interesting analogy. He says that someone who hears the Word but doesn’t do it is like a man who looks at himself in a mirror, but goes away and forgets what he looks like. Let’s let that sink in for a minute. If someone really did that, it would be crazy. Could you imagine looking at yourself and then walking away and forgetting what you looked like? No way.

But how many of us will get up in the morning, read God’s Word, process it, and write out how you need to think or act differently, then not be changed? This isn’t the way it is supposed to be. When we study the Bible, God speaks to us through it. He tells us who we are, what we’re created for, and what needs to change today to get closer to that. What we need to do is apply it.
