🌟 Board Member Spotlight: Susie Watkins 🌟
Susie Watkins, a retired elementary school teacher of 31 years, serves as Secretary of the HCCO Board. After a lifetime of educating and caring for children, Susie continues her passion for service by giving back to the Henderson community.
Inspired by her experiences working with students whose school meals were sometimes their only reliable food source, Susie joined HCCO to help support families who may fall through the cracks — especially the working poor facing rising costs of everyday necessities.

She believes strongly that those who are blessed with abundance have a responsibility to help others, and she sees HCCO as a vital organization that fills the gap for neighbors in need.

For Susie, one word describes HCCO best: Service.

She shares that volunteering at HCCO allows people to make a real difference, reminding us that the reward of helping others is greater than any paycheck.

As we look ahead to this fall, HCCO is preparing to celebrate 40 years of serving the Henderson community.

Four decades of meals shared, needs met, lives impacted, and hope restored — all made possible through the generosity of this community.

We’ll be sharing more soon, but we can already say this: we are so grateful for the journey so far, and even more excited for what’s ahead.

💜 **Board Member Spotlight: Francy Vaughan** 💜

We’re proud to introduce one of the newest members of the HCCO Board, **Francy Vaughan**!

Francy recently retired after 37 years with Brenntag Mid-South and has already made a meaningful impact during her first six months serving on the HCCO Board. She was inspired to join because of the people — describing HCCO as a truly *working board* where members actively serve and commit to helping others.

To Francy, HCCO’s mission is simple and powerful: *“God provides the food. We are blessed to serve it.”* She finds the greatest meaning in the heart of our volunteers and the way HCCO shares blessings throughout the community, supporting partners like Father Bradley Shelter, Audubon Kids Zone, and local nursing homes.

Francy describes HCCO in one word: **Love** — the heart behind everything we do and everyone we serve.

She says serving on the board has been deeply rewarding and considers the opportunity to serve our community a true privilege.

And that’s exactly what happened!

A big THANK YOU to Owensboro Health — Jamie Nunn and Penny Gibson stopped by (again!) with an incredible donation of **over 200 pounds of items** for the families we serve.

Your continued support helps stock shelves, meet real needs, and remind our community that kindness shows up in big ways… sometimes carrying lots and lots of bags. 💜

💜 **Community Connections in Action!** 💜

Sometimes the best things happen through simple conversations and strong community partnerships.

Recently, cleaning supplies from local disaster relief efforts were being stored at 4Good Community. Since these items couldn’t be sold, Kenny Garrett reached out to see if we could help get them into the hands of families who truly need them.

And that’s exactly what we did!! 🧽🫧

Cleaning products can be expensive, and something as simple as soap, disinfectant, or paper towels can make a real difference for households working hard to make ends meet. Thanks to this partnership, we’re able to pass these supplies along to the families we serve — helping homes stay clean, healthy, and cared for.

Because when organizations work together, good things happen… and sometimes that means a few extra bubbles spreading across Henderson!
