Temple Adas Shalom

Temple Adas Shalom A welcoming environment for Jews and interfaith families. www.templeadasshalom.org We have a membership of approximately 200 families.

Based in Havre de Grace, Maryland, we offer a welcoming environment for all Jews and interfaith families. The wide range of programs and activities provide many opportunities to add meaning to our lives, and share pleasant experiences with friends and neighbors of the Jewish community. As the only full service congregation between west Baltimore and Newark, DE, Temple Adas Shalom draws its members

not only from Harford County, but also from Cecil County, northwest Delaware, and parts of Baltimore County. We celebrated our 50th Anniversary in April 2005. Our purpose is to build a strong and vibrant Jewish community, providing for the spiritual well being of our members today, and the foundation for the Jewish community in this region in the future. We invite you to join us for an upcoming event or service, and learn more about what makes Temple Adas Shalom the center for Jewish life in the greater Baltimore area. At Temple Adas Shalom, we believe that Judaism is enriched by diversity and strengthened by inclusion. We are a warm, inclusive community where everyone belongs. We joyfully welcome individuals and families of all backgrounds, including interfaith, LGBTQ+, and those new to Judaism. Our doors and hearts are open to you — come connect, learn, and celebrate with us!

When you’re so frustrated you completely ignore the instructions... ❌🪨

In this week's double portion, Chukat-Balak, Moses hits his breaking point. After years of dealing with complaints in the wilderness—and fresh off the grief of losing his sister, Miriam—he loses his temper. Instead of speaking to the rock for water as instructed, he hits it with his staff.

It's a very human moment that reminds us of the dangers of burnout. When we are exhausted and grieving, it is so easy to lash out instead of using our words.

Let's support each other through the wilderness. Join us for Shabbat services this Friday! 💙⛺️

Read all about it: Scandal, Sinkholes, and Sprouting Staffs!

This week's Torah portion, Korach, is pure wilderness drama. A group of rebels tries to overthrow Moses and Aaron, and the consequences are literally ground-breaking (spoiler alert: the earth swallows their tents).

But the story ends with a beautiful miracle. To prove who is meant to lead, Aaron's wooden staff miraculously sprouts, blossoms, and produces fresh almonds overnight. It's a powerful reminder that true community leadership isn't about power grabs—it's about bearing good fruit and nurturing the people around you.

Leave the drama in the desert and come find some peace with your TAS family this Shabbat!
