This is a very sad report that I received recently, but which has been clarified a bit in this article. The Catholic priest in Kauda was killed, according to this article, in retaliation for reporting theft of medical supplies that were under the protection of the Catholic parish in Kauda. What a sad thing! While Christian leaders are generally respected in the Nuba Mountains, including by Muslims and Muslim leaders, this shows that leaders who serve Christ and are willing to stick their neck out for what is right are risking quite a bit.
Fr. Youhanna Al-Amin died in Kauda, a region of Sudan marked by tribal tensions and disputes among armed groups.
