Brother Byrd Hensley was a faithful member of Immanuel Baptist Church for many years. Over time, he served in many leadership roles as a Sunday School teacher, youth group leader, deacon, and often ministered in song, always encouraging and uplifting those around him. His dedication to the his family, church, and care for others left a lasting impact on so many lives. He will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him. Please continue to pray for his family.

Byrd Hensley, 78, of Dayhoit went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at the Johnson City Medical Center due to injuries of a mowing accident. He was born on November 12, 1947 in Harlan County. Byrd worked as a Geothermal Engineer for Parsons Well Drilling

Please make plans to join us as we celebrate the 250th birthday of America, “Let Liberty, Freedom, and Truth Ring" vacation Bible school.

This gospel rich VBS will include preaching from the Word of God and teaching on the early history of American Christian heritage in our nation. This special three day event will include programs with the Honor Guard, featuring the ceremonial folding and raising of the flag, along with other significant tributes. More details to be announced.

There will be no First Friday meetings for June and July as we prepare for VBS.

If you would like to be part of this event, sign-ups will begin on Wednesday. We look forward to celebrating with you and hope you’ll join us.

We’ll see you all at the shelter house at 5 p.m., and for those who wish, you can enjoy a trailer ride up to the top of the mountain to eat and hear the Word preached before we move to activities!
