This week we are looking at Ezra 3 as he recounts what happened when Israel first arrived in Jerusalem after King Cyrus decreed they could go back and rebuild their temple. As we continue to consider how God means to "brighten our eyes" and give us hope, read the text and pay attention to the things that Israel does. What practices can you identify that they do that may help keep their hope alive? How can you employ these in your own life?

This week we begin a new study in the book of Ezra. This continues our focus on a time in history when Israel is under Persian rule but allowed to worship God, a time when they are trying to be God's people in a Godless culture. Ezra happens 22 years after the events recorded in Esther. Ezra is a prophet of God who goes to Jerusalem with a mission. Read Ezra 9:8-9 - what is his primary purpose? What does it mean to "brighten our eyes"? Ezra begins his prophecy revisiting the past, some 60 years prior when King Cyrus allowed many Israelites to return to Jerusalem to rebuild the temple. Read Ezra 1 - what do v.1 and v. 5 have in common? What does it mean for God to stir someone's spirit and how does that relate to "brightening our eyes"? Has God done either of these things for you or through you lately?

This week we conclude our study in Esther with a look at the courageous queen herself. Read Esther 2 and 4 and pay particular attention to how Esther humbly and wisely both seeks and follows advice. Consider the Godly influences in your life that you go to for counsel, prayer, and an example to follow. How have or do these people help keep you focused on the Lord in a world where it is hard to find Him at times.

This week we continue our study of the book of Esther with a look at Haman the Agagite. Read Esther 3-7 and consider how Haman displayed his own pettiness. Pay attention to how he handled his anger, his joy, his despair, and his fears. How should the Godly handle all of these?

This week we continue our study of the book of Esther and will look at Esther's cousin and adopted father Mordecai. Read Esther 2-4 and consider how Mordecai displayed his loyalty to God. How did his loyalty to God put Esther at risk? How did it position Esther to save her people? What does it look like to be loyal to God above all others, even your closest loved ones?

Tuesday night was the back to school event at Triton Central Middle School. Over 100 students were served! They received bags, school supplies, toiletries, snacks, shoes! Free haircuts were given thanks to Dana Nelson and Lori Neafus! Extra deordant went to an eighth grade teacher who keeps a cabinet of supplies like this for students in need, and she was thrilled! Left over candy was given to the FCA leader to hand out which he was happy to receive! The principal, counselor and several teachers were so very thankful and appreciative of Rocklane and the great evening for their students! So, thank you to everyone who donated, served and made this back to school drive/night so successful!
