“Every new beginning comes from some other beginning's end.”
The first time I heard these song lyrics I fell in love with this phrase. It’s how we are choosing to look upon our next chapter as a people of God. As I closed and locked the door for the last time, it settled in, “it’s time for a new beginning”.
This morning before we headed off to worship I had a time of ugly tears (uncontrollable sobbing and gasping for those who aren’t familiar with the phrase). But by the time our worship service began, my emotions settled. This was a time to celebrate the work of God and His son Jesus. It was beautiful. A closing appropriate for a new beginning… a new work of God.
The Point Church & Community Center has been a wonderful place to minister. As we hugged our good-byes as a fellowship it was clear that we all just wanted to linger a little longer. That’s what unity and true love for your brothers and sisters in Christ does.
As Kimberly mentioned, “Normally we’d be packing up a moving truck and heading down the road tomorrow.” But this isn’t the case. We’ll wake up here in our home. Jared will head off to school. Aydan will continue to apply and interview for jobs. Kimberly will head off on her chaplaincy rotation. And I’ll head off to work….taking a longer lunch to pray with some dear friends before surgery (because that’s what friends do).
Connections won’t be broken. I’ll find my way to Coffee House 5 some Saturday morning in the future and enjoy fellowship again with the men who have been such a source of strength for me. And who knows… maybe some Sunday morning we’ll pop in on some group (wherever they’ve landed) and we’ll worship our Jesus together again on this side of eternity.
I’m ready for this new beginning and thank my God for the beginning that happened 6 years 6 months and 24 days ago. Yes, I feel sorrow in the closing of this organized fellowship, but God has done so much and there is more to be done through these beautiful people!
Now, “all glory to God, who is able, through His mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. Glory to Him in the church and in Christ Jesus through all generations forever and ever! Amen.” (Ephesians 3:20-21 NLT)
It’s closing time… but “every new beginning comes from some other beginning's end.”
