The Resurrection Revolution: Life On Mission

One of the biggest lies we believe is that our lives are random.

But Scripture paints a completely different picture.

“Before I made you in your mother’s womb, I chose you.” (Jeremiah 1:5)

Before you were born, God already had purpose in mind for your life. And Jesus makes it even clearer in John 17:
“In the same way that you gave me a mission in the world, I give them a mission in the world.” (John 17:18)

Every follower of Jesus has been put here for a purpose. The question is whether we’ll live distracted or live on mission.

TO LIVE MY LIFE ON MISSION...

1. AVOID ALL DISTRACTIONS.

“Anyone who lets himself be distracted from the work I plan for him is not fit for the Kingdom of God.” (Luke 9:62)

“Only those who throw away their lives for my sake... will ever know what it means to really live!” (Mark 8:35)

It’s easy to spend our lives chasing comfort, approval, success, or things that ultimately don’t last. Jesus reminds us that real life is found when we stop living only for ourselves and start living for Him.

2. ACCEPT GOD’S PURPOSE.

“Give yourselves completely to God... to be used for His good purposes.” (Romans 6:13)

“This is the wonderful message he has given us to tell others.” (2 Corinthians 5:19)

God doesn’t just save us from something — He saves us for something. We are part of His mission of bringing hope, reconciliation, and the Gospel into the world around us.

3. ANTICIPATE GOD’S PRESENCE.

“Go wherever I send you... for I will be with you.” (Jeremiah 1:7–8)

“As the Father has sent me, I am sending you... Receive the Holy Spirit.” (John 20:21–22)

“Here am I. Send me!” (Isaiah 6:8)

The good news is we don’t carry this mission alone. The same Holy Spirit who empowered the early Church still leads, strengthens, and goes with us today.

You were created on purpose.
You were saved for a purpose.
And God still sends ordinary people to change the world around them.

The Resurrection Revolution: The End of The Revolution?

At the end of Acts, we see Paul's truth: his life was centered on eternity with Jesus. He faced prison, rejection, suffering, and constant opposition, but his hope never shifted because his confidence wasn’t in this world lasting forever. Acts says:
“God... now commands everyone everywhere to repent... and he proved to everyone who [Jesus] is by raising him from the dead.” (Acts 17:30–31)

The resurrection wasn’t just proof that Jesus was alive. It was the promise that death would not have the final word. That’s why Paul could boldly say:
“I am on trial because my hope is in the resurrection of the dead!” (Acts 23:6) His eyes were fixed on eternity with Christ and the restoration of all things.

Romans reminds us:
“What we suffer now is nothing compared to the glory he will reveal to us later.” (Romans 8:18)

Creation itself is waiting for the day death and decay are finally undone (Romans 8:19–21).

That kind of hope changes how we live now.

Crossing the Finish Line Means I...

1. FIX MY EYES ON JESUS’ LIFE.

“Let us run with perseverance... fixing our eyes on Jesus.” (Hebrews 12:1–2)
“Run in such a way as to get the prize.” (1 Corinthians 9:24)

Paul knew distractions could easily pull us away from Jesus. The goal was never worldly comfort or success here — it was staying close to Jesus all the way to the finish line.

2. LET GO OF THE WORLD’S PROPAGANDA.

“Everything else is worthless compared with the infinite value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord.” (Philippians 3:8–9)
“I want to know Christ and experience the mighty power that raised him from the dead.” (Philippians 3:10–11)

After meeting Jesus, nothing else compared for Paul. More than status or recognition, his greatest desire was simply to know Christ and one day be with Him forever.

3. FOCUS ON FINISHING FAITHFULLY.

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” (2 Timothy 4:6–8)

In the end, Paul wasn’t clinging to this world. He was looking forward to seeing Jesus.

That's resurrection hope.
Not just surviving this life, but living with eternity in mind and finishing faithfully with our eyes fixed on Jesus.

"His love is actually bigger than anything we hate about ourselves." Let that sink in.

If you've been feeling powerless or caught up in just going through the motions, remember that the Resurrection is alive and moving today!

The Resurrection Revolution: Resurrection for the Rest of Us

One of the most beautiful things about the book of Acts is seeing who God moves towards.

Again and again, resurrection power reaches the people who feel forgotten, overlooked, disqualified, or far from God. The people who assume they’re on the outside looking in.

Peter declared:
“God raised Jesus from the dead… and poured out the Holy Spirit upon us.” (Acts 2:31–33)

That resurrection changed everything then. And it still can today.

Resurrection is for the person that is...

1. A religious Outsider.

God sent Philip down a desert road to meet one person: an Ethiopian eu**ch (Acts 8:26–29). Someone culturally and spiritually outside the “expected” circle.

As the man read Isaiah in his chariot, Philip asked if he understood what he was reading. He answered:
“How can I, unless someone guides me?” (Acts 8:30–31)

God intentionally pursued this man. The eu**ch didn’t chase Philip down — God sent Philip to him. That’s the heart of Jesus. Nobody is too far away, too different, or too outside the box for Him to reach.

2. Currently Falling Apart.

Paul and Silas were worshipping in prison when suddenly an earthquake shook the doors open (Acts 16:25–27). The jailer woke up, saw the doors open, and immediately assumed his life was over.

In complete hopelessness, he prepared to take his own life.

But Paul shouted:
“Do not harm yourself, for we are all here.” (Acts 16:28)

And instead of destruction, the jailer encountered grace. Trembling, he asked:
“What must I do to be saved?” (Acts 16:30)

Jesus still meets people in their darkest moments.

3. Quietly Faithful.

Tabitha spent her life serving people, helping widows, and doing good behind the scenes (Acts 9:36–37). No spotlight. No stage. Just quiet faithfulness.

When she died, the people she had cared for mourned deeply. Peter prayed and said:
“Tabitha, get up.” And she opened her eyes. (Acts 9:40–41)

God saw every unseen act of love she displayed, the whole time.

No matter where you find yourself in the story - outside, falling apart, or quietly serving without recognition - resurrection is for you too.

Jesus is still turning stories around.
