St. Ann's family, did you know St. Ephrem is a Doctor of the Church, and yet he was never more than a simple deacon? He is called the "Harp of the Holy Spirit" because of his incredible preaching and beautiful hymns.

Who is your best friend? Aristotle notes that there are three types of friends: those of utility, pleasure, and virtue. In the Christian understanding, truly virtuous friendship continues into heaven because the two people have spurred each other on to holiness. Learn more about virtuous friends here:

Today, St. Ann's joins the universal Church in celebrating the Solemnity of Corpus Christi, meditating on the great gift of the Eucharist that Jesus has left us. It is the food that truly nourishes us for our journey toward heaven.

The parish church of Sainte-Mère-Église in Normandy is now famous for what happened there on June 6, 1944: D-Day. Private John Steele of the 82nd Airborne parachuted into town, was injured by flak, and dangled from the pinnacle of the church.

He faked being dead for two whole hours, until the Germans took him prisoner. Later, he was able to escape and rejoin his unit.

Today, these events are commemorated by the "Parachute Memorial," which still dangles from the church steeple. It's a tribute to all the soldiers who fought to liberate Europe.

As our St. Ann's family, let's pray today for all soldiers who have died in the defense of basic freedoms.

In the Old Testament, God commands that the Israelites harvest a "first fruit" every year and offer it to him. This means that the first food coming forth from the earth went to the Lord, not to the people.

This feast was designed to establish a greater trust in God - if you give over the first fruit to him, you need to trust that the rest of the harvest will be plentiful.

Today, we are encouraged to tithe, or give a tenth, to God and charitable organizations. St. Ann's family, do we give the first tenth we receive each month? Or do we give from our excess? Consider offering up that first fruit to God to establish greater trust in him!

Let's be honest, we might look at priests like Fr. Xavier Arimboor and think, "Must be easy to be holy when you live right next to the house of the Lord!" But through baptism, we are all "houses of the Lord" and, thus, able to gaze upon his beauty. No matter the physical location, we can always close our eyes and, through prayer, draw close to God.

“Blessed are you among women and blessed is the fruit of your womb.”🙏🩵

The Visitation is a powerful scene in Scripture including the first encounter between Christ and St. John the Baptist, St. Elizabeth’s praises, which are in the Hail Mary, and the Magnificat. Both our Blessed Mother and Elizabeth are examples of perfect faith and trust in God’s will. May we mirror their fiats in God’s will for us.🩵🙏
