MATTHEW 18:15-20
Life together isn’t always easy—even in the church. We disagree, misunderstand one another, and sometimes leave conversations feeling hurt or unheard.

Jesus knew the challenges of living in community. Yet he showed us that faith is meant to be lived together: sharing burdens, encouraging one another, speaking truth with love, offering forgiveness, and holding one another accountable.

Conflict doesn’t have to divide us. When approached with courage, compassion, honesty, and grace, even difficult conversations can become holy work—helping us build a community that more fully reflects God’s love.

• How do I respond when conflict arises—avoid, defend, listen, or seek understanding?
• Where might God be inviting me to listen more deeply?
• How can I help create a community where truth and grace can exist together?

Matthew 16: 21-28
Jesus tells his disciples, “Take up your cross and follow me.” — Matthew 16:24

Following Jesus isn’t always comfortable. It means choosing love over power, compassion over convenience, and being willing to show up for others in the difficult places of life.

Sometimes carrying the cross looks very ordinary: sitting beside someone who is hurting, standing up for someone who is overlooked, listening instead of judging, giving when it would be easier to keep, or simply being present when someone feels alone.

Jesus reminds us that God’s kingdom isn’t built through power, prestige, or getting our own way. It is built through courageous, generous love.

• Where might Jesus be asking me to choose love over comfort?
• Who in my life needs me to simply show up and be present right now?
• Is there something—pride, control, comfort, or fear—that I need to lay down in order to follow Jesus more freely?
• What might “taking up my cross” look like in my ordinary life this week?
