While modern culture often equates righteousness with self-righteousness, Keith Funk’s reflection on Jesus’ Beatitudes returns to a deeper biblical vision of justice and wholeness. Funk argues that to hunger and thirst for righteousness is to experience a deep spiritual longing for healing in the face of tragedy, war, and personal suffering. Ultimately, he highlights Christ's promise that this ache for restoration will not go unmet but will be fully satisfied in the coming kingdom.

Registration is filling up fast.

Heartland Center for Spirituality would like to invite you to Radiance Within, a one-day workshop facilitated by Sr. Jane Belanger on Saturday, October 17, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Heartland Center, 3600 Broadway, Great Bend, Kansas.
Through a series of sunflower paintings that celebrate life's beauty and transformation, participants will be guided in reflecting on growth, gratitude, surrender, and the light that shines within each of us. This enriching retreat offers an opportunity for spiritual reflection and personal renewal.

Heartland Center will host a free online Faith Formation program on Sunday, October 18, 2026, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. via Zoom, presented by Keith Funk, Fr. Bob Schremmer, and Coleen Stein. Inspired by Richard Rohr's The Tears of Things, this interactive evening will explore finding hope in times of uncertainty, loss, and change through the Christian understanding of apocalypse, lament, and the Paschal Mystery.
