When you seek God instead of this world’s idols, you experience his joy and peace. The glitter of the world is temporal. The light of God’s presence is brilliant and everlasting. Walk in the light with him by your side. Thus you become a beacon through whom others are drawn to him.

I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you.” —John 15:13-15

When you grow tense or worried in your relationship with Jesus, he feels hurt. He knows the worst about you, but he also sees the best in you. He longs for you to trust him enough to be fully yourself with him. When you are real with him, he is able to bring out the best in you: the very gifts he has planted in your soul. Relax, and enjoy your friendship with your savior Jesus Christ.

Let the Holy Spirit quiet your mind so that you can think God’s thoughts. This ability is an awesome benefit of being God’s children, we’re patterned after his own image. Do not let the noise of the world or that of your own thinking misguide you. Sit quietly in his presence, letting his thoughts reprogram your thinking.

A friend loves at all times, And a brother is born for adversity. Proverbs 17:17

Thinking back to when we were much younger, we all can probably pull up a memory of a time you thought someone was your friend, only to realize we were mistaken. A revealed secret, broken promise, or even a certain boy or girl make it clear they wasn’t your friend after all. So maybe we don’t need to think back to our childhood.

Think now of your true friends. The ones who have seen, and forgiven, your worst, and who have gotten that same grace from you. Whether you have one special friend, or a handful, they are treasures from God.

Yes, we are called to rejoice today. There are days we see his handiwork everywhere and we look, and there are days that just seem to happen. Today is an offering from our Father God to us. That in itself is cause for celebration, don’t you think.

Let’s look harder, closer, at today. Find a patch of blue sky, recall a night of sledding, light a fire. Turn your heart toward Jesus and be glad for today.

You will never be in control of your life circumstances, but you can relax and trust Jesus control. Instead of striving for a predictable, safe lifestyle, seek to know him in greater depths. Jesus longs to make your life a glorious adventure, but you must stop clinging to old ways. He is always doing something new within his beloved ones. Be on the lookout for all that he has prepared for you.

When I am afraid, I will trust in you. In God, whose word I praise, in God I trust; I will not be afraid. What can mortal man do to me? —Psalm 56:3-4
