Skansen, on the island Djurgården in Stockholm, is the world’s oldest open-air museum. Emanuel Swedenborg’s summerhouse (lusthus) was transplanted from his Stockholm estate to Skansen in 1896. Swedenborg made extensive use of the summerhouse as a place of physical and spiritual retreat. The summerhouse contains Swedenborg’s own small 18th Century organ, which has 45 wooden pipes and a 17th Century style keyboard. Unusually, its tones are one octave higher than normal.
