Duncan Memorial Methodist Church Duncan Memorial Methodist Church holds Sunday School at 9:45am just before the 11am worship service every Sunday.

The office is closed on Fridays. *Summer Worship is at 10:30am. Duncan Memorial United Methodist Church traces its origin to Bishop Francis Asbury’s visit to Georgetown in February 1785. This was just two months after the famous Christmas Conference held in Baltimore during Christmas Week 1784. Bishop Asbury, accompanied by Woolman Hickson, Jesse Lee and Henry Willis, said of their arrival, “We crossed Lynches Creek, Black Mingo and the Black River and arrived in Georgetown, where we were met with a kind reception." Then when Asbury’s group headed for Charleston, Woolman Hickson was left in Georgetown with William Wayne, the first Methodist convert in Georgetown. This dates our congregation as the oldest Methodist Church in South Carolina formed by Francis Asbury.

To do lists, calendars, alerts on our phones. We use them all to remind of us things we need to do, where to be and at what time. How do you decide what's most important? Biggest projects first? Or the ones that take the most time or that have to be finished the soonest? God asks for you to put Him at the top of your list and let Him work with you through ALL your lists. You'll be amazed how all things will work out just the way they are planned when you do. "Commit to the Lord whatever you do and He will establish your plans." (Proverbs 16:3)

Our time is precious. We're only given 24 hours in a day and some days it feels like every minute has something planned & somewhere to be. We find time for work, school (and after school) activities, going to the game, dining out with friends, sleeping on the couch, reading a good book, scrolling social media, but what about time with God? God doesn't want you to "punch in" time with Him but make Him a part of every moment of every day. "Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity." Ephesians 5:15-16).

We fill our minds with all kinds of things: names, numbers, appointments, songs, ideas, and that obscure math equation you had to learn in 7th grade you've never used since. As much as we talk about God having our hearts, isn't it just as important for Him to be on our minds too? Yeah - He thinks so. "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your MIND..."(Luke 10:27)

A HUGE thank-you to our Children’s Ministry team, Sandra for playing the piano, our parents for bringing their kiddos, and everyone who prepared breakfast and helped make today so special! I’m so grateful for each of you who pour love into these children! 🫶

We've all heard the saying "many hands make the work light" but have you ever considered "many prayers make the blessings bigger"? When we lift others up in prayer, we become a collective voice engaging God in our daily lives - together. He hears us individually but when we come in unison, He delights in returning His blessings to us even more. Join us for Sunday School at 10am and worship service at 11am - TOGETHER - as one body in Christ.

What are you praying for today? Did it include words for someone else's healing? Praise for someone's good news? Tears for someone's else hurting? Love for someone's happiness? What a privilege it is to pray for others. Then you find out someone has been praying for you too? The greatest gift we can ever receive. Take time today to include others in your prayers.
