Pancakes! Fun! Fellowship!

Serving hotcakes with gluten-free options and other delicious items.

We will also have plenty of fun games for the children.

It takes a village to make this event happen - we provide the food, but need more volunteers to help with set-up, cooking/serving, and clean-up. Please use this link to sign up: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/5080B4AACA62B0-61664227-christ #/

Come for dinner, wear your beads, bring a neighbor, bring the whole family. It's a night you won't want to miss!

(A free-will offering will happily be accepted if you want to donate to help offset some of the costs of this meal, however all are welcome - please join us!)

Kensington Labor Day Parade – Monday, September 1

Come join the Christ Church contingent walking in this year’s parade! It’s fun for all ages, a great way to get the word out about Christ Church, and connect with our Kensington neighbors. Stroller, scooter and friendly-dog friendly! We'll gather at 9:00 am on the 1st at a location to be announced as soon as the parade organizers let us know. Parade begins at 10am and ends about Noon. You can always just show up, but very helpful if you let us know that you’re planning to join us by emailing organizer Sean Quinn ([email protected]) or calling/emailing parish administrator Jen Luna ([email protected])!

End of Year Giving

The end of the year is approaching – have you completed your 2024 pledge payments? If you pledged for 2024, please take a minute and check whether you have fulfilled your pledge, and if you are able to do so, please make a payment!

Gifts must be received by the church by Dec 31 to be counted toward your 2024 tax deductions. Thank you so very much for your financial support! It is our primary source of income and fuels our mission.

If you are struggling this season, you are not alone. The short days and holidays can be difficult for so many of us who may be experiencing loss, depression, grief, disconnection, or hardship of any kind.

Join us Sunday, December 15 at 5:00 p.m. in person or on Zoom for a candlelight service of prayer, music, reflection and Holy Communion. Together we will honor the struggle, and seek a measure of hope and healing. If you have a friend or neighbor who may need or want a welcoming and peaceful sacred space, invite them to join you. As always, all are welcome!

As we move through the anticipation of this Advent season toward our joyous Christmas celebration, would you like to dedicate altar flowers to remember or honor a loved one? Your flower dedication will be included in the Christmas Eve and Christmas Day service bulletins, and the beautiful flowers adorning our altar will enhance the joy of our Christmas services! Please use the link below to access the form for submitting dedications online, or use the special envelopes found in your pews, and put them into the collection plate. Deadline for flower dedications is noon on December 19.

Again this year we are going to support children and families in need at Arcola and Rock View Elementary Schools by helping with their Christmas wish lists. Sponsors buy a few of the gifts from the child’s wish list, along with a gift card ($20-$30), usually for a total expenditure of $40-60. A link to the wish lists, and a separate link to sign up to buy gifts for a specific child, is below or contact the office and Jen will help you sign up. Copies of the wish lists will be on the Outreach table at the back of the church.

Sign Up Here: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/5080B4AACA62B0-53585586-arcola #/

Once you have made your purchases, we ask deliver them UNWRAPPED to the church. Be sure to include with the gifts the ID number listed that corresponds to the specific child, and the Outreach Team will take it from there! All gifts need to be at the church no later than Sunday, December 15th. Questions? Contact Liz Quinn, [email protected] or Aime Keith, [email protected].

Advent begins tomorrow…time to make a beautiful Advent wreath for your home! Enjoy this fun annual event downstairs in the Parish Hall after the 10 am service. All supplies provided - but if you have special greens you'd like, or clippers, bring them in. (There will be some of both to share.) And if you have a wreath ring from a previous year’s event, bring it for your re-use. Alternative advent activities will be available for younger children.

Stewardship Update! There is still time to pledge!

It's time to send that pledge in! Our formal Stewardship campaign ends next Sunday, Nov. 17.

72 of you have generously pledged already, thank you so very much.

We need another 58 of you to pledge to meet our goal of 130 pledges.

Remember a pledge is your estimate of how much you will give in 2025. Pledges cover 78% of the cost of doing ministry at Christ Church, so that information is essential for your vestry to make decisions about our budget in the coming year.

Let's do it! Pledge today!

Mail in your pledge card, drop it off at church, or pledge online using the link in the comments. And THANK YOU!

There is still time to donate to the Thanksgiving Food Bag Collection, sponsored by the Children of Christ Church

Once again this year we will be helping the Arcola Elementary and Rock View Elementary school communities to provide food for families in need this Thanksgiving. We have a big goal of filling 100 bags this year, so we need everyone who can to please pitch in. Three ways to help!

Make a monetary donation in any amount. $60 covers the costs for one bag which will include food and a grocery gift card. Envelopes for donation are on the Outreach table at church, or you can donate online through Realm (fund = Outreach-Arcola).
Donate a $25 Giant or Safeway Gift Card. Drop them in the donation box on the Outreach table or drop off at the church office during the week!
Donate food, using the shopping list found on the Outreach table and linked below. Food donations should be placed in the baskets hallway at the back of the sanctuary. Bring in one item, or the whole bag.

Packing Party will be Sunday, November 17 after the 10:00 service and everyone is encouraged to participate. Questions? Contact Liz Quinn, [email protected]. Thank you for your generous support!
